It's a real nuisance to have to pick-up toiletries on the road (and if the hotel has these in a concierge service they will gouge you horribly). Lots of places used to offer travel size toothpaste, but I haven't seen that in a while (margin margin margin!).
The hotel will have complementary soap and shampoo for you. A lot of times the toilet paper is not particularly bowel friendly, but I don't know if you can pack a roll or two in your bag or not.

Depends on what you're carrying with you. I've seen people empty out ipods, phones, wallets, watches, keys, change, rings, etc., from their varies pockets. Over the years I've just widdled all that down to what's essential and kept my cash on me (unless they have that giant body scanner thingy). I wear my slip on loafers when I fly so I don't have to worry about retying my shoes as well.
