Wisky got screwed by A) the official not marking the ball and B) not making sure they had room to snap it (calling the delay of game), but Stave could've avoided it all by spiking the ball and not getting cute and setting it on the ground.

I don't think I've ever seen something as idiotic. He's lucky they didn't rule it a fumble...

Wisconsin wasn't ready to the snap the ball even if the ref had respotted it. It isn't like they were at the line waiting.

I've only seen the replay and didn't hear that well but was that last play ever blown dead?

Wiscy got screwed. Stave was clearly centering the ball for the FG and then was going to spike it. He did everything properly. He took a knee and the set the ball down so the official could quickly spot it.

Officiating fuck up at it's finest.

Agreed, and I wonder if they'll own up to it.

The officiating at the end of the Wisky/ASU and the Akron/UM game were both atrocious at the end.

Except what WebFire posted is 100% what happened....

Stave CLEARLY kneeled, the ref behind him blew the whistle and signled that the play was over.

B1G teams can't catch a break...

While Wisconsin was robbed of a win because of incompetent officiating at best (biased, game fixing officiating at worst), Iowa players were literally robbed while at Iowa State.

The QB could have avoid all of this by correctly giving the ball to the official instead of placing it on the ground in front of a defensive that is taught to jump on a loose ball. He also could have had time to spike the ball if he was not have a conversation with the referee who told him that he could snap the ball. Don't put the ball on the ground if time is running out. IMO he did not do everything properly as Webfire stated.

You left out the now-confirmed fact that the officials blew it.

The Refs stopped Wisconsin from snapping the ball, just an FYI

Of the five things that went awry, this was the officials problem.

"one of the officials briefly held the Badgers at the line of scrimmage before they could snap the ball"

None of this is required of the QB. There is no rule that says in order for the official to properly spot the ball (his job to have awareness of the situation), the ball carrier must hand the ball to the ref. Placing the ball on the ground was not an incorrect action.

Also, the official is the one that did not allow the ball to be snapped. First by allowing the defender to lay on the ball (which should have been flagged since the whistle did blow), then by telling the center he had to wait.

The only thing the QB did do wrong, was not having his team lined up immediately to press the issue.

Lol wiscy wasn't robbed of a win. At worst they were robbed of a CHANCE to win. Play better during the first 99% of the game and they don't have to worry about winning on a last second field goal against some shit team.

Play better? Yes. Hoping the refs know how to properly do their job? No, that should be a given.

Sure, no reason for the defense to think the ball was loose.

Pretty sure ASU is ranked.
