I want the best bats in the lineup against the Tigers, we are going to need to score runs.
We are not going to outslug the Tigers. We can beat them with speed, defense, and outpitching them, especially in the back end of the pen. Right now, we have the Fish to worry about, and I trust Francona to put the best lineup out there when the Kitties come to town.

I agree with having speed in the lineup against the Kitties. Manufacturing runs may be critical.

I just hope they aren't looking past the woeful Marlins. A loss combined with a Tigers win is just as bad as losing a game in the next series.

Did he reach 40 to 50 pitches in the 1st? I don't like it when he pitches.

Didn't see it but from what I heard he should have had an inning ending double play ball. None of the runs are earned for what its worth. Hold them at 3 and let our bats battle back.

90 pitches through the 3rd inning and 2 ER.

Even though Ubaldo sucks, he should still punch Cabrera in the face.

The good thing is the bullpen should be somewhat fresh since the starters have been eating up innings lately.

Earned runs or not...I don't know if he's been ahead in the count all night. He's just a wildcard when he pitches.

Forget Ubaldo's 12 pitches per batter. Forget the defensive failures. Our hitting looks like a weak AA team tonight.

The Marlins certainly don't appear to need 4 or 5 runs to win this.

I'll reiterate what I said on the White Sox thread....we are going to have to play better defense than we have been playing. We swept the ChiSox not because we were good...but because they are bad.I am worried about the defense which has been bad since the all star break.....we certanly don't need to give the Marlins any more runs than they earn, especially with Fernandez dominating our hitters tonite.

I would agree. I hope people don't get enamored with what this team could be as opposed to what this team is. It's still an average hitting club who has performed poorly defensively. The starting pitching has really been exceptional....certainly overachieving in my opinion.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Cabrera was trying to torpedo Ubaldo--those two errors were pathetic!!!
