Just saw:
"Jiro Dreams Of Sushi"
I enjoyed it.

If I ate fish I would probably visit Jiro Ono's restaurant when I go to Japan. But as a taoist jew I am a strong headed vegan.

I don't watch a lot of movies but I do read a great deal.

My favorite is Dr. Seuss "Hooten Hears a Whore"

The Mist and The Village are 2 more must see movies. Both have such incredible endings.

The Mist is a classic. The best adaptation of any Stephen King book, ever, in my view.

JFK. The John Candy restaurant scene stole the entire show and it only lasted two minutes. It was Academy worthy. Candy's death is all the more tragic after watching his performance in JFK and realizing just how much talent he had yet to tap into. Had he lived and realized that untapped potential, Candy might have gone down as one of the greatest actors to ever live.

As far as recent movies are concerned, Silver Lining's Playbook was excellent. Jennifer Lawrence is outstanding.

She was good but I thought she was overrated IMHO. Personally thought Naomi Watts in "The Impossible" deserved best actress this last go around. And, fwiw, I thought that was a good movie and worth seeing. Should've been nominated for Best Picture IMHO.

She's also hot, so that helps.

Never saw "The Impossible," but Watts is typically excellent in anything she is in, so I believe you when you say she was worthy of an Oscar. She was tremendous in The Painted Veil, J. Edgar and Babe: Pig in the City.

Matt Damon is a talent. If it weren't for DiCaprio and Will Smith, he'd likely be considered as perhaps the greatest of his generation. Of course, that's my personal opinion.

Leo is awesome. Will Smith, not so much. Matt Damon destroys his best acting with several roles.

Along those same lines, for a heist film, I think the Spike Lee joint "Inside Man" is criminally underrated. Clive Owen is a remarkably gifted actor. For a shining example of this, check out The Croupier. It's a exasperatingly plodding movie at times, but perfectly showcases just how immense Owen's talent is. He is as good as there is.
