It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I craved sweets more than meat when I made the switch, oddly enough.

Please clarify...you had to give up all meats (poultry, pork, fish, etc) or just red meat?

You know they make these things called supplements, right? (if this was already discussed you can just write gfy)

May be the first time we actually agree on something!
I always say it isnt a meal unless meat is included.

I still eat fish, but Mrs. fft hates, so I don't eat as much as I'd like. So lots of dairy. If I'm eating basically all dairy, I can get 100g of protein at around 2k calories if I'm eating some fiber based stuff for balance.

It's doable, but there's no way I'm going to bulk up huge. Much more of a lean look than what I'm used to but probably healthier.

So no chicken or pork? If so, and this isn't by choice, I'd get a second opinion from a different doc. If your doc told you "no meat whatsoever", he's a quack. I'm no medical professional, by any means, but I've NEVER heard a doc say "cut out ALL meats, including lean chicken & pork."

Ok, workout freaks...I am tired of running in my regular/old tennis shoes. I need a pair of shoes that I can both run (treadmill and outside) longer distances in (3+ miles) as well as lift weights in...also, I am rather cheap, so nothing outrageous...and GO!

lol, until about 3 months ago I would have too. I will run 3 miles or more in interval type training. Sprint for 30-60 seconds then walk for 60 seconds. It takes longer than the typical "long distance" run does where one jogs the whole time due to the walking intervals but the workout is great.

Now that, I'm down with. I do something similar "walk-sprint-walk" but not for that distance.

I wear Vibrams for lifting (except squats) and favor a very lightweight Under Armour shoe for sprints (unless in grass, then I just wear the Vibrams).

You wear the finger toe shoes?

Best. Shoes. Ever.

Like walking barefoot. Great for lifting weights, especially deadlifts.

Crossfit is a joke. Hey lets just throw some random shit together, call it workout, have terrible form and god awful technique, and then post about it on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.

I don't mind a lot of crossfit. I have friends who are very into it and in amazing shape, know (and teach) proper form, etc.

That being said, the culture that has stemmed from crossfit is fucking nauseating.

This isn't for everyone (perhaps those with high metabolisms, etc) BUT if you have had lifelong weight issues and have issues keeping it off THIS is how you do it. I've been preaching this for awhile. Now, perhaps since a mainstream celebrity like LBJ has jumped on the bandwagon, more people might take notice. The benefits are amazing....

The problem with Crossfit, as birddog touched on, is that any yahoo can get certified and call themselves a Crossfit "expert."

I've seen some nasty powerlifting injuries (bar slipping from hands during bench, kissing your nuts when you ate it on a squat, etc) but I've heard of more cases of paralysis due to Crossfit "fuckups" since it's been a craze, than injuries I've heard of from powerlifting.

There is no doubt cutting out sugar (especially artificial/added sugar) is the quickest way to lose weight. In the US we eat so much white/processed sugar that the typical calorie intake is something like 1000 more per day than what it should be.

I'm even "ok" with eating necessary breads/carbs as long as the bread is a wheat/rye and not white with added sugar (most don't know that white bread has added sugar to it to make it taste better).

One of the best meals for losing weight is a big salad with fruit and healthy nuts in it, as well as some grilled chicken on top.

Most people can lose a lot of weight quickly just by cutting out "sugar" drinks like pop, store bought juices, etc out of their diet.

I did not realize most bread had added sugar into until about a month ago. Have switched to a sugar free bread since

I have been sticking to IF, but realized I needed to pay attention to my macro intake. I've been doing that for 3 weeks, and there are already significant changes.
