Summer's always rough for me because I'm always out with friends and partying. But I've only gained a couple pounds, so I must have set a good enough base to where working out is in my blood/brain now, so I'm not actually taking steps back, just more or less spinning in neutral. But as Eddard Stark says, WINTER IS COMING. And that's when I can really make a bit of ground.

Back when I was in high school, I did 3 half-marathons. I was proud as fuck to run the whole thing the third time. The tough part is pacing, particularly since you're never sure how to run it because any regular running you do (assuming you're a normal person whose idea of a longer run is 3-6 miles) is going to be a far faster pace than you should there. The first one I did, when I got to the 10K (6.2 miles) mark, I realized my time was a bit faster than my (to that point) fastest 10K I'd done before. By 8 miles, I was dead and for the last two, I'd alternate between walking and painfully jogging at a pace that couldn't have been faster than a walk.
Needless to say, I never seriously thought about stepping up to the full 26.2.
