Some interesting games on the docket today. #7 Michigan at Iowa State (5:00 ET on ESPN2) and the rematch of the year, Robert Morris at #1 Kentucky. Admittedly, the latter matchup will probably be pretty anti-climactic.

Also in action today against mid-majors:

#19 UConn (ESPNU at noon)
#12 North Carolina (ESPNU at 4)
#15 Gonzaga (Root Sports Rocky Mountain at 8)
#22 Baylor (FOXSW at 5)

Connecticut is so good. I'm not sure there is a better backcourt in America than Ryan Boatright and Shabazz Napier. And with budding star Omar Calhoun on the wing as a 6-6 sharpshooter, the next great guard for the Huskies is in line. Factoring in Kemba Walker, has there been a better group of guards at any other school over the last three or four years? Storrs is a guard factory right now.

This could be a Final Four team, easily.

Indiana takes on Stony Brook who most have winning their conference and making the NCAAs. Sophomore Jamel Warney will be a problem for the Hoosiers.

Still a young team, I expect another close game till the end like LIU-B. I will be really impressed if indiana can win handily.

Forgot about Indiana. I'm anxious to get a look at the Hoosiers, as well.

Oregon State is on the road at Maryland, too, which should be a great showdown between Roberto Nelson and Dez Wells (assuming both are playing). Nelson averaging 30 points a game through two games thus far.

Not a great day, but a lot of major teams on tap. Hopefully this stupid storm doesn't affect viewing of the games.

Indiana has so much talent and length. At times, you will see 6'7 Jeremy Hollowell running point with 6'6, 6'7, 6'9, 6'10 filling out the lineup. Easily the most athletic team I've seen at indiana in over a decade. Troy Williams is a more talented Oladipo at comparable age. Just tremendous athleticism. But, they are young and stupid lol. Not the best shooting team, at all...which is a stark realism after last year.

But, I think you will be surprised by what Tom Crean has to work with. It's a lot more than even myself have credit. Really excited for next year if Vonleh and Williams return. I see another top 5 team if that happens.

Right now I see that Vonleh is projected just outside the lottery. Luckily for you, with the talent in this year's crop, especially at forward, Vonleh is probably only a year away from being a guaranteed lottery pick. I would have to think that will work in your favor...

He is also a year younger. Should be in 2014 class. Only 18. Gotta think that helps also. But money is money and I don't blame guys for leaving if they are gonnabe lottery picks.

Yeah, neither do I. The only time I get sort of upset/angry is when a player promises he's coming back or whatever. I hate that. But some of these guys are teenagers, so you can't put a whole lot of stock into what they say anyway as teenagers generally speak to whatever emotion they are experiencing at a given time. In the end, it's their life.

My UConn GOAT Team post seems a bit premature in light of BU storming back to take the lead, but, as we saw with Michigan State last night, this happens, especially early in the year.

Looks like Indiana State is starting right where they left off during last year's non-conference schedule. Big win for the Sycamores in their attempt to get into the Dance after being left out last year, despite some huge OOC wins over Ole Miss and Miami. With Creighton no longer in the MWC, this should be the year Jake Odum gets in the tourney.

Kentucky -22 vs Robert Morris.

Coming off a loss, game scheduled just for revenge in last year's NIT loss.

I'm liking to load up on this bet.

Also, Towson getting 11.5 at Villanova. Towson is a pretty tough team. Probably going to parlay these (Towson +11.5, Kentucky -22 and over 157) and see what happens.

Rec's boy Jack Taylor of Grinnell dropped 71 in their opener. It's no 138 points, but he actually did this on 23/52 from the field. Not great, but respectable.

Lol. What the hell. He's got two 100-point games now.

After watching the actual video tape of Grinnell's record-breaking game last year, though, it's not as impressive when factoring in the level of play going on, but still 100 points in a college game is ridiculous.

According to the recap, Taylor scored 53 points in the first nine minutes of the second half. Can you imagine listening to Dick Vitale call that spurt. Call the fire chief! haha.

Kevin Ware suspended for 1 afternoon of practice by Rick Pitino. He was arrested for reckless driving (95 MPH in a 55 MPH) and then did not show up for his required court date.
