Not to mention that, for example, Coach K brings in boat loads of more money than Professor Smith of the English Dept.sherm03;1600743 wrote:The salary for coaches comes from the athletic department's revenue. The professors' pay comes from the University's revenue. They are not the same.

Pretty much ALL college basketball coaches will be bringing more money in than any professor.

You are correct, but it's apples and oranges. Professors aren't hired to bring in money (unless they're writing grants), but coaches are. It's just the way it is.wildcats20;1600762 wrote: Pretty much ALL college basketball coaches will be bringing more money in than any professor.

Exactly. Which is why classy's post is, again, way off base.vball10set;1600764 wrote:You are correct, but it's apples and oranges. Professors aren't hired to bring in money (unless they're writing grants), but coaches are. It's just the way it is.

I'm not hating on Duke, I am loving on Mercer. That team was better prepared and executed their game plan better than Duke.It was beautiful basketball.reclegend22;1600732 wrote:I thought you were a "former Duke hater"?
But I agree. He deserves a shit ton of money.
The coaches who make the megabucks are in a tough spot. They have so much and many of their players have so little and with all of their financial assets they can't lend a hand.

I'm just saying this money would do better if some of it was appropriated a little more towards the University

Doug McDermott got 64 of 65 votes from sportwriters for NPOY. Only Louisville beat writer Rick Bozich didn't vote for him. He voted for Russ Smith. Haha. C'mon dude...
