Yeah I'm a middle-class, middle-aged guy with a family and we are very active in local sports. I would say you are the 2nd biggest ass on here but 2nd always goes to your twin like_that....so I guess you are the biggest. Sleeper is harmless...funny guy.
The QQ about moderators is the most annoying thing on here. When you are purposely being an asshole you can't bitch because of what a moderator does. If you aren't being a dick head you'll never ever get infracted or bant to the basement.
"Getting too old for this Riggs"......we've acted the same on these sites since early huddle days.....aren't you too getting too old to be the jacks that stir everything up? You guys bitch about the 5 members who aren't here posting anymore that were "good" posters (they liked the Browns).....how many have you two ran off? Your ridiculous obsession with bandwagon stuff is especially sensible being that you too are so god damn loyal to Ohio that you moved to other states.....and are actually bothered that we like other teams or players (but if we were Browns fans it would be all good)
Damn! I have to say I feel a lot of chagrin...for never, ever thinking of that way of combating the bandwagon calls. lol, me dumb person! A bunch of real-life Lebrons, they are! Ohio through and through...until that opportunity comes to take their talents to...(insert city/state here)!
Some good points here. I mean, I'm a bit of an asshole, so I get the whole, "Speak blunt and if people get upset, they have 'hurt feelz'" vibe, but in the context of things here, it seems a bit weak. I mean, if someone gets annoyed by repeatedly being insulted and leaves and that's called 'hurt feelz' and no big loss, wouldn't it be the same if someone gets annoyed by moderating and leaves? It's all "hurt feelz" -- which makes it funny to act like one is good and the other's evil.
Down in the basement, I've seen Sleeper make a case about moderation being something that's keeping new members away or hurting traffic. One could also say that members being over-the-top assholes also has something to do about that. Which I should know, since over the years, I've been enough of an over-the-top asshole to drive away a couple. And sometimes, you have a poster who truly offers nothing in any way other than possible unintentional comedy (isadore, mtrulz, ender wiggin), who probably deserves to be culled from the herd. But when it comes down to people regularly getting insulted for a bunch of reasons that all come down to "I don't like the tone you're taking with me/I don't like the team you cheer for/etc.", it seems to defeat the purpose of building/maintaining an internet community. Especially when things take a "well, it's cool WHEN I DO IT!" attitude, which is the only way I can really explain how a couple years ago, the people who made it their goal to completely run Dynasty off the site for being a passive-aggressive troll on Cleveland threads were getting their chuckles by trolling the Penguins thread solely to watch Rock combust.
Just seems to me that's the sort of actions that turn a site like this into about 10-15 full-time members and a few dozen more who pop up every few days to see if there's anything worth responding to and then leave after 5 minutes. In other words, what Yappi's more social boards had become when I stopped posted there. It was a small number of guys who created a bunch of alts and basically took over the place with their in-jokes and stuff. Old-timers hated it because the board was essentially overrun by assholes; while guys like me who weren't part of any group just had no idea what was going on most of the time and just lost interest in trying to figure it out.
