1. Grilli on 15-day DL, Melancon moves into closer role.
2. Vic Black called up to take his place. One of their better AAA prospects. A bit surprised he got the call over Reid or Welker, who'd both been up previously, but with Black either being part of the future bullpen or a possible trade chip they might want to showcase a bit, I'm glad to see him. Don't know why he wasn't used yesterday, though. 5-1 lead in the 9th is the perfect chance to let him get his feet wet.
3. Neil Walker off the DL.
4. Brandon Inge DFA'd. Apparently "leadership" and "chemistry" don't make up for "can't fucking hit the ball to save his life".

At least you had him during his brief period of being a competent player. For us, the "competent zone" was the first week or two he got called up. And then he went 1-56 (or at least it felt like that because...guh...he sucked).Classyposter58;1478550 wrote:Haha try living with him for 10 years like us
EDIT: Last 10 games -- 2-18 (both hits in the same game), 1 double, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 7 Ks.
Or to take it farther.
April -- 7 hits in 8 games
May -- 9 hits (before you think there was competence there, his average went from .321 after May 1 to .216 after May 31).
June -- 3 hits
July -- 0 hits

Hmm, it might just be me, but I think there are better ways to start a game than committing three errors in the top of the first.
Handing Gio three unearned runs and a 4-0 lead is a good way to get me to immediately lose interest in the rest of the game.

Four runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 7-7. Crazy game, from following online. Gone from a foregone conclusion loss to one where they have a legit chance to pull it out.
And now, I expect the Nats to get a quick solo homer to finish it.

Looks like Grilli just has a flexor strain, according to Dejan's twitter, so no surgery will be needed.

Buccos jumped out to an early 4-0 lead tonight thanks in part to a 3-run jack by Pedro. Still leading the Cards 4-1 in the 6th. Starting this 5-game series off with a win would be great.

Pirates won 9-2. Liriano had the good stuff going tonight. Doubleheader tomorrow. Hopefully the Bucs keep it going.

Was at the game...playoff atmosphere. My biggest worry is that it always seems like when the Bucs have a big night with the bat, they tend to disappear the next day.
Going to the DH tomorrow. Hope they can keep it up!

Good way to start the series. Just gotta keep it going. Winning it would be nice, but I'd love for 4/5. Or 5/5, but that could be asking for too much.

You're not taking 5/5 from the Cardinals, lol.Heretic;1480057 wrote:Good way to start the series. Just gotta keep it going. Winning it would be nice, but I'd love for 4/5. Or 5/5, but that could be asking for too much.

First game of the doubleheader could wind up ugly for one simple reason: Burnett doesn't get offensive support from the Pirates, while Lance Lynn has 12 wins despite mediocre/decent numbers because he gets a shit ton of support.

Going to PNC for the first time this Fri night. Any suggestions on best place to park & catch some pre-game brews before walking to stadium?

Buccos take game two of the doubleheader 6-0 and have at least won this series. At least 3/5 and that's awesome. 1 or 2 more would be fan-fucking-tastic. They've outscored the Cards 17-3 in three games over these last two days.
