Went last and unfortunately Bucs lost but that is a great ball park. Hit the casino next door afterwards. Just think if the idiots running Cbus hadn't taken our casino out to hill jack town we could have had a similar experience after Clipper games.

Buccos won last night and this afternoon to win the series vs. the Rockies. A day off and then the Marlins come to town. 23 games above .500 right now. It was this time last year that the Pirates were 16 games above .500 and then began to collapse. Hoping history does not repeat itself.

Not the most likely guy to be the walkoff hero, but then again, the baseball gods owed them one after the whole "bases loaded, no outs, no runs scored" debacle of the eighth inning. More great work by the bullpen, too. Locke had his second straight rocky outing, but Mazzaro, Watson and Morris got the job done with shutout relief.

Cutch out today with "shoulder discomfort". Lots of away games coming up. Hope this isn't a lingering problem.

Martin with yet another walk off winner in the 10th! 5 in a row, 26 over .500 and a 9-2 homestand. On the road now to Colorado and St. Louis.

Great way to finish off the homestand. It'll be even better if the Dodgers can beat the Cards again to give them a 4 game lead in the division.

Yeah, that was a blah series. Didn't pay attention to Saturday's game, but on Friday, Liriano simply sucked and the team didn't take advantage of a lot of early opportunities. Sunday, it just seemed like little things went wrong at the worst times. Heard from a blog that the balk that led to a run eventually scoring was a bad call, but don't know for sure. Pedro's error definitely was an untimely miscue. And after a promising start, the offense disappeared in clutch situations. Ninth inning looked like another great comeback win, but they couldn't get that one big hit to make it so.

Looks like Andrew Lambo will make his debut tonight to open a big series at St. Louis. Dude's had an interesting path to the majors. Was part of the trade with the Dodgers where Pittsburgh traded Dotel for him and James McDonald. Immediately flopped in AAA and then missed nearly a full season injured, so he kinda fell completely off the radar. And then, this year, he's had over 30 homers between AA and AAA (with a bit superior production numbers in AAA).

Considering how it might be being KIND to say that RF has been a cesspool of mediocrity with Tabata, Snyder, Harrison and Jones all taking turns there, it'd be awesome if he can produce anywhere along the lines he has in the minors along the next couple months.

Last night was a bit demoralizing. Marte drops a routine fly ball leading to the Cards tying it in the 9th. And then they blow good scoring opportunities in extras and apparently wound up losing after I passed out drunk. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!

Good comeback tonight. Liriano was dominating and got a complete game to save the bullpen after last night's 14-inning game.

Good job Heretic for letting your own damn thread for your team get buried on page two! Now GFY you fucking douche!!!!

Anyway, read today that Pittsburgh would have to finish 5-29 or worse to not break their streak of losing seasons. Hopefully, that will be 3-29 after the weekend, as they have the edge in both pitching matchups, as long as Lincecum stays in "little sissy guy who sucks" mode instead of remembering he does have that "dominating Cy Young winning guy" mode that he can use about once a month or so.

Can't explain it but they've played excellent on the west coast this year

Pirates make a trade and get Marlon Byrd and John Buck for a minor league prospect, Dillson Herrera and a PTBNM. GREAT DEAL!!!

Fuck yeah! Byrd's been hot and easily improves the outfield production. Not that outshining the multi-head right field monster of Tabata/Snyder/Jones/Lambo would be tough, but he's got more power production this year than McCutchen or anyone not named Pedro on the team.

And Buck will be a solid back-up to Martin. All for one A-level prospect. Today is a good day.

Now just have to hope that Locke can at least give a decent start tonight instead of his typical August showing. Those two don't arrive until tomorrow, from what I read, and it'd be nice to do good against the Brewers to build some momentum for St. Louis in the weekend series. And keep pace with the Cards if the Reds don't feel like cooperating with a win or two themselves.

And now have one straight win after taking a 7-1 decision from the Brewers last night. Be big to get the series win behind Cole tonight, as that would put them back in a tie with the Cards.

Byrd's debut was nice, with a 3-run homer to effectively clinch things (moved it from 4-1 to 7-1).

Good day today, beating the Cards behind the surprisingly great Liriano (for the year in general, now, it's not surprising anymore to see him have a kickass start), who got his 15th win, while the Reds lost to stay 3.5 out of the lead.

While a sweep would be nice, I'll be happy with 2/3. Tomorrow looks very winnable, as Lynn's been kinda sucky recently. Sunday could be tougher, with Kris Johnson making his first start. Did good in relief in that 18-inning game with Arizona a couple weeks back until they got to him in his sixth inning of work, so they're probably just hoping he can give them 5 or so and the 'pen can handle the rest. In other words, it'd be real helpful if Burnett could make at least 7 or so innings in Game 2.
