Correction of my comment. Short missed game 2 and did have limited play in game 3, he then missed the next 4 games.

I never said, nor hinted, nor iterated or accused the coaching staff of "pushing him out". What I did say is that when he was at Orrville last year, realizing that Lichti had shown little to no improvement over the previous two years, Short should have been given more of an opportunity to QB just as Lichti had when he was in a similar position. I do realize that Short's transfer was due to his father accepting a teaching position at McKinley.

rr1 has a tendency to post stats, however, he also has a tendency to either limit or attempt to accentuate the facts to alter what he is saying.

What was the injury and is he healthy? Do your due diligence and find out. Or have rr1 do it and tell the whole story.

No...it can't be done. Look around you, your town is changing. It's slowly shrinking. Orrville is not the town it was in the 80's when you had a couple teams that could compete with any team, any size, in the state. Orrville was a vibrant active town then that totally revolved around sports. Those days are gone forever. You are now only a D5 school in a average D5 town. You are in a conference where some schools have classes with more boys than you have in 9th thru 12th. The only D5 teams in Ohio football history who can compete on a regular basis in a league with teams 2 and 3 divisions larger are parochial schools who pull high level athletes.

That difficult change has resulted in more competitive options for our program. Maybe worth a look for Orrville.

So what's the vibe in Orrville this week? I could be wrong, but I have Wooster in a rout. It's not a good football team (3-6), but they have to be sky high in confidence after the West Holmes win.

If the Riders drop six in a row to close out the season, and have very thin talent at the younger levels, I've got to believe conference realignment is an issue for serious discussion this off season.

Guys you can not just get into a different conference because you want to. Do you honestly think the PAC would look to add Orrville who on a down year beat the PAC Champion? Come on guys. There is no way I want to see a independent schedule like RR1 posted. This is what you have. Suck it up and win 6 games next year and go to the playoffs. That is what it is all about. That was on the table this year. One play away from WH and who knows what happens then. These kids and coaches improved a lot since last year and most was in the attitude! They expected to win this year.

Bingo. I said this last year but it was called "excuse making." Town has dramatically. Gone are the blue collar job & families that worked at Westinghouse, QC, Koppers & Volvo. Kids are graduating high school & leaving for college & not retuning. Why? Because there aren't the opportunities there used to be. Think that doesn't have an impact on the makeup of kids in the schools??

Those names we've seen for decades..Winters, Reusser, DeHart, Tipton, Durden, Robinson, Steiner, Mosley, Bowman, Stoudmire, Hamsher...where have they all gone?

Are we finally ready to admit that the makeup & demographics of this town have changed and that it's impacting our athletic teams?

Very interesting insight. I won't disagree with you that we've dropped off since those amazing runs in the 80s and 90s..but since the 2009-10 school year, we've gone to a final 4 in football, boys basketball, girls basketball & volleyball.

Not bad for being "down" but I get what you're saying.

You do bring up a good point..say we get into a conference (like say the Portage Trail Conference...hmmm)...we may have to look at not playing Wooster in week 10 (or at all) to be able to fit into a league schedule. That would be wildly unpopular but it might be a choice we have to make.

Coldwater has a great program....they play schools around their same size.

Kirtland has been good the last few years....they play schools around their same size.

Mogadore has a great program....they play schools around the same size.

If Orrville stays in a league with mostly D2 schools, they will lose a lot more games than they will win. As would all the schools I mentioned above.
