Austin Collinsworth.

MIKE (my fault on that one) Golic's son is already is at Notre Dame, but now Cris Collinsworth's son? This is getting strange, considering I've heard Cris tear into Notre Dame several times over the radio.

Austin is a 6' 180-lb 4.6-forty Slot Receiver. A three-star recruit as a safety on Rivals and ESPN. Rest assured Notre Dame fans, ccrunner will shortly tell us he will soon be a five-star.

He had offers from Cincinnati, Oregon, Stanford, Kentucky, Harvard, and Vanderbilt among others.

Not bad size and speed and I like the ivy league offer, at least we know he can tie his shoes. Sounds like the type of player kelly said he was looking for. And yea, his dad is an asshole who never really accomplished anything but I won't hold it against the kid. lol

I met Austin a few days ago...he's a really nice kid. I'm happy he chose the Irish.

He's going to need to bulk up a little bit...but if he does, he'll be the same size and maybe just a step or two slower than Kyle McCarthy.

Good pick up for Kelly.

Why does ND continue to use their scholarships on ex- white pro athletes sons'? Maybe this is a reason they are slowly going downhill. Zibikowski have a son yet?

I think Collingsworth was a symbolic pick by Kelly. First, Collingsworth is a nationally known name. Second, Kelly wanted to show he can take the recruits out of the Cincinnati area if he wants to.

I don't necessarily agree with JohnGrizzly's un-PC statement, but I do not disagree with it either. I have always thought (and still think) they will not get where they need to be with "Chip Smith" playing DB, LB, etc. To take it from another angle, even if they stick with a caucasian player, they might need to get someone who is a bit more blue-collar playing those positions.

^^^^ But it was a recruit that no other big time program in the East seemed to have wanted. It's not that difficult to get a kid to pick ND over second rate programs like UC, UK, and Vandy. No hate intended, just my opinion.

ND goes after celebrities instead of real talent, which probably explains why they've won 1 bowl game since 1994 and that was against Hawaii. LOL

Yes, because OSU doesn't have sons of former NFL/College players on their team. Oh wait, one isn't making the trip to the Rose Bowl. Good call.
