Not wishful thinking. They weren't all that good this year. They just peaked/got on a roll, at the right time.

Newsome isn't going to be able to fill all of those pieces. They just lost two key linebackers and their most reliable WR (Flacco's security blanket). The bleeding likely hasn't stopped yet in that they could lose other guys. Pretty unrealistic to expect drafted rookies to step in and be major/impact contributors.

They didn't roll through this past season either. Honestly thought they were the worst team to win a SB in awhile. They just got hot at the right time, mixed in with Moore being a dipshit on that hail mary. I am not saying they won't make the playoffs, because Rice can make things happen, but I sure wouldn't be that confident for them to make the playoffs as past seasons.

Especially without their vocal leader in Lewis. Reed will probably leave as well. Suggs just doesn't strike me as a leader type.

Speaking of Rice, a Rat fan called in to Sirius and said they should trade him and give that backup a chance. I laughed.

Yes, I'm not saying they are going to the Super Bowl again. I'm just saying they have enough left plus guessing based on Ozzie's past decisions that they will be alright. It won't be overly hard to win the division.

Pierce is going to be pretty good but I like the 1-2 punch.

Bungals are a decent team, steelers are always in it and Browns may be better. I'd say AFC North is the toughest division in football.

That being said, Ratbirds have Flacco (mediocre reg season QB who half way through last season BSPN was talking about benching and QB options for them) and Rice. Def has been cleaned out though. Be interesting to see if Kindle can step up and play a role (lol lol lol). Flacco has rice and pitta to throw it to...lol lol lol

Oline got worse, WR got worse, Def toook a huge step backwards.......Ravens might be worst in the division next season.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter Raiders announced they released WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, DB Michael Huff and DE David Tollefson; and re-signed DB Phillip Adams.

Wouldn't mind looking at Huff.

Why dont you consider Smith a legitimate target to throw to?

Yup. Good for Flacco, bad for the Ravens.

I think the Ravens miss the playoffs next year.

Smith is a legit vertical threat but after that they don't have much. They have two decent TE's but I wouldn't rely on Jacoby Jones. After that?

Maybe I should, but to me he's a 1 trick pony who now doesn't have Anquan Boldin opening up the def by going over the middle for him. Still hasn't had a 1k yr receiving yr. He had 49 catches last year, hard to consider him elite/#1 WR. He'll need to step up in a big way for sure. I didn't like him coming out of Maryland, so there's some bias going back with him.

I can't take your post serious after reading the bolded part.

I can't count out the Ravens. Newsome is one of the best.

Not sure he said anything crazy. Browns are pretty bad, and the Bengals and Steelers were average teams last year.

If it is not "overly hard," then i take it as it will be relatively easy to win the division. It has NEVER been relatively easy to win the AFC North.

Just for the record I am not counting them out either. It's a tough division where the teams just physically beat the shit out of each other. To say it won't be overly hard to win the division though is just absurd. Every single division game the last two years were pretty close amongst all teams.

Considering the Browns were incredibly active at the start of the day in FA talks... only 1 signing is kind of disappointing at this point.

I know, but we did have 50MIL in cap space. You'd think with the most cap space, there would be a lot more talk out there at least. What happened with Munnerlyn? I heard we had interest in Jennings, too, but looks like he's either going back to GB or to MIN.

Agreed! I feel like TE's are a dime a dozen. No sense in dropping big bucks on one unless we have a stud QB first.

Desmond Bryant is signing with Browns according to Ian Rapport. Not sure what to say about that. Best DT on market, but needed?
