Doesn't bother me at all. Norv as the OC makes me more ok with it.

Didn't he get run out of town by fans when he was the OC a few years ago?

The comments on the ESPN article are pretty funny. Some saying good riddance on leaving Carolina.

After reading more about him, why is this such a bad hire? He's had great offensive success everywhere he's been. I know he's never been a head coach, don't think that's a bad thing though. He's from Ohio and coached the Browns before so he knows the area. I think it could end up being good for the Browns. Norv Turner sucks as a head coach but is great as an offensive mind. Could be huge for Weeden. Just need to get a great DC and they're set.

Think he could get Mike Shula to make a lateral move to Cleveland as QB coach?hangonsloopy;1363447 wrote:Doesn't bother me at all. Norv as the OC makes me more ok with it.
That would help a little too

I'm not sure why Chud being from Ohio and knowing the area matters whatsoever when becoming an NFL coach.Terry_Tate;1363454 wrote:After reading more about him, why is this such a bad hire? What I meant by that is he knows how passionate and dedicated the fans are. I mean, shit, look at the threads on here. He should know if they are winning that place will be rocking and he'll be a star in Cleveland. Overall it may not mean much, but if I was a coach I'd rather be the head coach of the Bengals than anywhere else(bad example with Mike Brown but you get the point).

I'm sure he does, unfortunately just knowing that doesn't make you a good coach. I hope it works out, but would much prefer a seasoned head coach at this time.Terry_Tate;1363465 wrote:What I meant by that is he knows how passionate and dedicated the fans are. For some reason I think he is leaking the info to try and get a spot with the browns I really don't see him coming to Cleveland in any position

What a failure this new regime is starting out to be. It all started with the banner hiring

My thinking on that is, if there's a seasoned head coach available then more likely than not something bad happened for them to leave their former team. Bill Cowher may be the lone exception, but why not try someone young with a lot of talent? His offenses have been a hell of a lot better than Pat Shurmurs and he's been very successful. Everyone thought Cam Newton would suck but Chud had him rolling. Not sure how much of that is Cam and how much is Chud, but I think Cleveland could have done a lot worse. With Weeden, Richardson, and the talented young WRs they will put up a lot of points. If they can get a good DC I really think they'll be on the right track to success.

This hiring may ruin any chance at trich having a huge career in Cleveland. Running game will be just as bad as with pat

If the lombardi rumors are true (hearing they are
) this is a terrible hire. Still wanted Zimmer, not sure Chud is vocal enough to be a leader. Part of patty's problem. Zimmer would have given us instant cred in the locker room. Not sure Chud does that.

I like this hire. Chudinski is a local guy who gets it. Norv Turner is a great OC. Look for the Browns offense to step it up in a big way.

A lot of the national media is big on the Chudzinski hiring. Supposedly one of the "great young football minds in the league." If he turned Derek Anderson into something, for a year, he must be doing something right. Was a bit "iffy" on this until I heard Turner would be involved.
Think it's safe to say the three yard passes on 3rd & 8 are probably out the window. If Weeden is going to amount to anything, these are the guys & the system to do it for him. If he can't thrive in this system...next.
Have also heard the name "Romeo Crennel" bantered around as a potential D-Coordinator and that Chudzinski will run a 3-4.
I actually think Haslam has his grubby mitts on that "switch to the 3-4" thing. He's had that Steeler mentality pounded into his head for so long he's buying into it.

Yes, Chud is perfect for Weeden. Chunk passing game with solid protection schemes. BW can play on rhythm & from pocket.

I was with Chud in CLE for 2 seasons. He loves a big armed QB…wants to stretch the field with vertical passing and utilize a power run game.
I also think that this open offense will do wonders for Richardson's game. Anyone remember the year Jamal Lewis had in 2007? Lewis wasn't half the back that Richardson is now, age-wise.
And if they aren't sold on Weeden, I wouldn't be surprised if Philip Rivers reunited with Norv in Cleveland.
