What if we take him at No. 11 after we trade down? Will we be a contender in the playoffs?raiderbuck;1422766 wrote:Got an alert on my phone from Bleacher Report. Dee Miliner said that Browns will be a contender in the playoffs if they take him at No. 6.
I like the confidence, but I have to lol at that. I'll settle for a winning season haha

lol at a corner thinking they're the difference between playoffs or not. It's all about the trenches. Remember when the Bungals took CBs in the first round pretty closely? How many playoffs wins did they have?

Yeah, Haden played that game too (had an int). I am just more referring to the other 4 games where they could have really used him. I don't think Andy Failton goes off in week 2 if Haden plays. I believe that was the overrated Failton's best game all season too smh.Commander of Awesome;1422793 wrote:You forget we got shurmur'd.

Agree. The guys on Sirius still question as to whether Dalton is the long term solution for Cincy. Seems like AJ Green bails him out a lot with poorly thrown passes ala Braylon/Winslow/Joe J did in DA's one good season.like_that;1422805 wrote:Yeah, Haden played that game too (had an int). I think he is very overrated, but as you said since Aj Green is the real deal, AJ tends to make him look good at times. The thing is, Mike Brown is not smart enough to realize this, so I fully expect him to throw the kitchen sink at both of those guys and neglect to keep together the actual heart and soul of that team (their defense).BR1986FB;1422822 wrote:Agree. To me, Dalton is a stronger armed version of Colt McCoy.like_that;1422827 wrote:I think he is very overrated, but as you said since Aj Green is the real deal, AJ tends to make him look good at times. The Browns have invested a lot in the O and Dline. How has that worked out?Commander of Awesome;1422769 wrote:lol at a corner thinking they're the difference between playoffs or not. We have? I'd say it something we only recently started doing. Hopefully this season it will pan out.Pick6;1422998 wrote:The Browns have invested a lot in the O and Dline. How has that worked out?
Dline we finally have a solid Dline across the board. Rubin, Taylor, and Bryant but that's only recently.
As for Oline, we finally made the investment necessary last season (RT) and I'd say it worked out pretty well.

Just saying I think anybody can be the difference between the playoffs or not. Skrine probably cost us 4 games alone last season.Commander of Awesome;1423001 wrote:We have? I'd say it something we only recently started doing. Hopefully this season it will pan out.

I agree that the trenches are where games are won. However, I like our hogs in the trenches. I could see putting another stud corner opposite of Haden having a huge impact on our football team. Not saying that it's got to be Milliner, but I think the Browns have the potential to be a lot better than people think... especially with the way our division is limping into pre-season (figuratively speaking).Commander of Awesome;1422769 wrote:lol at a corner thinking they're the difference between playoffs or not. With all of that said, I won't be upset if we trade down, add another pick or two, and then take Warmack or Milliner at 11.

I'm still worried about our pass rush. We have Krueger who had an excellent end of the season/post season but wasn't a starter with the Ratburds. I think he'll be good, but far from "proven" IMO. Sheard is a "?" While I think he can do it, he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire as a pass rusher from his natural position DE in a 4-3. Groves is a solid back up, but I don't see a "Stud" pass rusher any where on our Defense. Dion Jordan fell to us, we better take him. If not trade back, get a pass rush and use the 2nd round pick on a CB since we fucked around and played penis flickers will all the starting CB talent on the FA market.

I understand your concern. Two things encouraging to me: the Browns defensive front is fairly deep now. Additionally, our D-Coordinator wants to get after it. Putting pressure on the QB doesn't come only from talented players... it also has a TON to do with the philosophy of the DC. Having depth and a DC that wasn't to get after means we can send pressure while also keeping fresh players in the game.Commander of Awesome;1423039 wrote:I'm still worried about our pass rush. The Browns were middle of the pack last year in points allowed (19th) despite having an inadequate offense. They also finished 11th in the league in total sacks with 38. I don't think our pass rush is an poor as people may think. I simply believe that it was not the philosophy of our old DC to send a ton of guys at opposing QB's because we needed the extra help in the secondary.

I don't think Skrine is even pedestrian tho. If we don't pick up another cb in the first two rounds we might be in trouble in coverage. I don't know if Amerson? Cb out of NC State will last till the third.Commander of Awesome;1423084 wrote:Well the Steelers also had a FANTASTIC defense/dline and very pedestrian CBs.

Then you'll get a chubby over Charlie Casserly's recent mock which has Dion Jordan falling to us at 6 and trading Sheard to Tennessee for another 1st. Would be nice but I don't see Sheard netting a 1st.Commander of Awesome;1423039 wrote:I'm still worried about our pass rush.
