I thought Banner said they were bringing in Smith for a private workout at the owners meetings? MKC sucks but if Banner said it, he's likely coming in.

Jeff Risdon ‏@JeffRisdon @Com_of_Awesome I have a 7th round grade on Glennon but I'm not Joe Banner

LOL, what an idiot. Banner doesn't make the picks, Lombardi does. Guess he thinks out scouts are all idiots.

People can say what they want about Lombardi/Banner, but Im pretty pleased with how FA has gone down so far. Moreso than I ever was with Heckert.

Lombardi is usually stellar in free agency. The draft is where he typically shits in his hat.

Sad to see him go, and he was the last remaining member from the '99 team. Who was the 2nd longest tenured player from the '99 team?

Met him at pro bowl practice and he was an awesome dude. Pretty sure he would have talked all day. Then met his fam outside the game, they were waiting in the line to get in instead of walking through the family gate. She said it didn't matter. They were also really nice.

Sad to see him go. He's our best player.

Phi Dawson " Hey Cleveland, thank you for a tremendous ride. Your love, support and encouragement have blessed me deeply" also "Playing for you has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and I wish you all the best."

Sucks to see Phil leave. Really does, most clutch kicker in the NFL right and he wasn't in it for the money, he enjoyed playing here. I will be rooting for the 49ers next year so Dawson get what he deserves.. A superbowl ring.

Dawson seemed resigned to leaving as players cleaned out their lockers on New Year's Eve. The kicker pulled aside an Associated Press reporter and showed him what he scrawled in an adjoining cabinet where he kept his cleats: "Phil was here 1999-2012."

"Prison style," Dawson told AP reporter Tom Withers.
Made me chuckle.

A reader commented on the Plain Dealer article about Phil leaving and his remarks went something like "in a few years when we have a truly good team we'll look back at how we thought the best player on this team was a kicker". I guess Phil was special to a lot of Browns' fans because he was one of the originals. This game is a business and the Browns will find someone to do the job for a lot less money. Sad but true.

Yeah, sucks that Phil is gone, but that money can be used better somewhere else. It would be awesome if we could actually score touchdowns.
