I agree. That is usually a situation set up to fail. Orrville, a few years back had a basketball coach that had two sons on the team. The sons were good players, but the coach was terrible and should have been fired (for many reasons) before his sons were done playing. It did not happen until they were done playing.

Agreed rrfan. I attended a few of the Riders games back then. You are absolutely correct. He ruined a lot of good players. Orrville also had several players not go out for the team, that were very good players, because of him. What a shame. It's a bad set up. My guess is that Dennis' fate at Rittman is the same as that Orrville coaches

Looks like the bulldogs are a little banged up so far. 36 players on the roster but only 24 can play right now due to injuries. According to the mass. paper they don't think most of the injuries are serious and they hope to be back close to 30 for the scrimmage with fairless and east canton Saturday.

Are any teams seeing the effect of increased concussion precautions at this point? Not that the precautions are a bad thing, but is anyone seeing kids held out of action for this reason?

D1 recruits for receivers nowadays are big (6-4 or 6-5) and fast. By looking at this tape, I think this young man would have a tough time making a D3 program. I sure hope he takes advantage of his scholarship and gets a degree that leads to a good vocation, because he will not see any playing time at Akron U. The politics of college sports.

I emailed Huddle and asked where they got the misinformation about his stats (800 yds last year...LMAO). They actually emailed back and said they were going to look into it. They had been given some bad information. I wonder who gave them the bad info? cough...dad...cough. Log on to the Akron blog and look at the thread about Dennis. It's pretty comical. They're REAL excited about getting him.

Does Brady Berger still have plans to walk-on at Akron?? If so, it will be real comical when he ends up making the team and Dennis doesn't touch the field.

Even funnier is the fact that JJ huddle has Dennis ranked the same as Chek Washington from Mansfield Senior. Now, I have not seen Dennis play (other than the highlight tape) but I have seen Chek Washington play and I can tell you FOR SURE that Dennis is nowhere near the athlete/football player as Washington.

Wow! That is the highlight tape. I kept waiting for a great catch or brackaway play to show up. It never did. His track times are not that great either. 50.49 in the 400 is an okay time. I just don't get this.

How are the numbers looking for waynedale?

I think everyone knows after watching Rittman play that they have no college players on their rooster at any level. Time to move on.

How have scrimmages been going? Who is looking good, bad? How many boys did Chippewa get to come out for football with the new coach?

that's a pretty good list, but I would switch the bulldogs and bears. Dalton rolled waynedale last year and they return most of their starters (many of whom were soph's last year). The first two are pretty clear iMO, in the order you have them. Hillsdale lost a lot but still returns some very good players and has one of the biggest rosters in the league - I expect them to be solid again. Waynedale was the worst I have seen them in 2012, but I do think things got out of control a little as the year went on and they weren't quite as bad as they looked. Smithville loses a lot and does not have very many upperclassmen. I don't know how you can be very excited about either Rittman or Chippewa, but I think the optimism is running a little higher in chipp country as they were more competitive near the end of the year.

Norwayne offense did what it wanted vs Black River. First play Dreher to Harris ball was in the air 65 yards, Three running backs looked good, Maxwell, Miller and Wheeland. Actually thought Wheeland ran real hard. Defense, looked like it has 10 new starters on it. Black River has a nice running back, they pounded down the field a few times, Norwayne scored at will through the air.

Heard the bears put the smack down on west Holmes and Tuslaw last night. I did not see it but heard they scored at will and have up no points to either.
With a senior class that has some leadership and class along with talent in the sophomore class, I look for a competitive team this year

We certainly won't be competitive because of the coaching......yuck yuck!

easy now......we agreed to let that all simmer down. word is bears are much improved. even some west holmes people said bears look good. if the man can win with this group of under achievers and light weights of pitiful parents then he should be coach of the year. a lot of US on here will have to eat a lot crow. wonder how it taste with moonshine?
