Indeed. I wish the State of Jefferson would get more momentum. I've also seen proposals to break Cali up into 5 or 6 different states.

This is hilarious to me that IL is so bad, and Chicago is the leading city.

$14 billion in unpaid bills; not to mention their share of trillions in unfunded future liabilities or $20 trillion in national debt.

Fun times coming.

Yes, that breakup needs to occur so the majority of the state, area-wise, can be salvaged. It is stunning how the state deteriorated in just 3 decades of liberal rule.

I never heard of this, I had to look it up. That is a pipe dream. That state jumped the shark a long time ago. I was actually really surprised that they realized their healthcare bill (projected $400M a year) would be fiscally irresponsible.

There's been a republican in charge of IL for several years now and he sucks balls.

To be fair he inherited the mess and the assembly won't pass anything. A lot of it is old pension funding issues.

He did not create the mess ..............decades of unaffordable big union benefits and liberals kicking the can down the road caused all of it.

OC Logic: If a Democrat holds office and things aren't ideal, no one may blame anything upon Republicans who came before; if a Republican holds office and things aren't ideal, it all goes back to past Democrats with no statute of limitations.

Maybe for QO, look up the Illinois problem and let me know what the problem is. I didn't even say it wasn't republicans, I said it wasn't the governor. He can't pass a budget himself. And we all know who runs Chicago.

Here I'll help. And I don't blame it on left or right, the problem isn't the current Governor though. Whoever thought these absurd pensions were a good idea is to blame, it takes up 1/4 of the entire budget!

For what it's worth, Alabama is entirely run by Republicans and state politics are a disaster. I thought it might help when Trump pulled Sessions out of here. In actuality, it has not. He was replaced by a religious zealot who is now mixed up in a bribery scandal. Our Republican governor had to resign to avoid impeachment, our House Speaker had to resign so he could go to prison, and our Supreme Court was removed from office by the Court. All members of the GOP.

the state governments cant function with a D or an R if that person doesnt have the balls to cut. You cant govern and make decisions based on the next election. THats what these cowards do.

I dislike 95% of all politicians. I don't pretend the republican leadership is any better than the dems, other than I usually side with them on the larger issues. There's no way out bc the same dumbasses keep voting in the same corrupt schmucks.

Let's get back to memes.

I get that most politicians are politicians because they can't find real work, or they enjoy graft and corruption. But I don't think Alabama is sitting on $14 billion in bills it doesn't have the cash to cover.

Then he probably shouldn't have based his ENTIRE campaign on passing a budget for the state.
