I'm all "And you hated that guy, right? Considered him a war criminal, right? WHY THE **** DO YOU NOT THINK THE SAME THING ABOUT OBAMA?!"

****s. All of them.
I respond in like with the ol' "Muslims are killing people but Christians used to as well remember the Crusades" talk. So if the Christians were wrong then, and the Musloms are doing the same thing now, doesn't...that... ...make? The Muslims wrong too????? And it's right about that point that I get called an extremist or xenophobe.

From what I can tell, so many (far TOO many) try to fight for their team. Unfortunately, their team is (R) or (D), instead of (T) - Truth. Grow a backbone instead of a wishbone people!!!!!

From the people I know who have the means to move wherever they want, it seems most are going to Costa Rica. Living is cheap, but nice. The government is set up somewhat similarly to this one (originally, anyway), but a lot of it is moot anyway, because as long as you're not making waves, there is very little enforcement. Live, and let live ... more or less.

Other than, you know, a social security administration, a universal, primarily government-run health care system coupled with, all in all, a strong welfare state, stricter gun control laws than in the United States, comparatively strong tax administration, a central bank controlling interest rates, a currency that can float within a certain range...

Papa Fish is strongly considering chucking it all and heading for Costa Rica. Hopefully he does it...Christmas down there would be farking sweet.

Sooo, it's tough to determine whether the takers would have it better there, or here.

I think you missed the latter part of my statement. Little of much of what you're talking about is enforced. Or, at least, it's easier to remove oneself from much of the system.

Basically. Same framework. Less enforcement.

Can't hunt your own food. Go to Costa Rican jail if you have two guns. Hard to get health care without embedding into teh socialism. But you can smoke weed with no one hassling you. I'd bet you'd have more tangible freedom in Colorado...just not as great of weather (IMHO).

LOL! No ... you really don't. I'm pretty sure every person I know who has moved down there (5-6) is what you would probably call a "gun nut," sans one. This is a perfect example of the kind of law on the books that gets enforced about as strictly as the speed limits in the US. It's a law, but nobody REALLY has to follow it, and it's not really ever enforced strictly.
BoatShoes;1478314 wrote:Hard to get health care without embedding into teh socialism.
Not at all, as it turns out. Private practitioners down there, who rely primarily on a small clientele of word-of-mouth contacts do pretty well, and for those who prefer health care to be particularly adept in emergencies, they seem to be sought after over the cattle being herded through the emergency rooms of the public hospitals.

I couldn't say. Never lived in Colorado. As for the weather, I suppose that's a preference thing.
