The fact that Mr. Feeny was their teacher in elementary school, their principal in high school, and their professor in college and that there were numerous cracks made about that was really funny.
Mr. Feeny: I regard all my students equally.
Shawn: Oh, you know we're your favorites.
Cory: Come on Feeny. You haven't even talked to another student for seven years.

But never had to replace a main character with a different actor/actress. One of my biggest pet peeves was when Fresh Prince of Bel Air changed the actress that played Aunt Viv and we were supposed to just pretend it was the same lady. The fact that the core cast stayed together that long made that show great.
Either Morgan Matthews skinned another kid somewhere in the middle of the series and wore that child's carcass as a costume for the remainder of the show's run -- though that seems like a pretty dark storyline I would have remembered -- or there were two actors who played Morgan.

I agree with you, though, while Morgan was just a pretty minor character in Boy Meets World, replacing Will's aunt Viv in Fresh Prince was just unforgivable.
