Well, anyone out there paying attention to the girls programs in Wayne County? WCAL, Wooster, Triway, Central Christian? Glad to have some indoor sports to watch again.

Smithville will be the favorite to repeat. Orrville will be good , but is getting a late start. West Holmes will be the favorite in the OCC.

Anyone know of the Wayne County all-time scoring leaders?

I found some info but doubt it's a complete list.

Tonya Smoot - Chippewa - 1745
Charbea Haller - Chippewa - 1723
Marcie Alberts - Wooster - 1695
Jenna Pew - Smithville - 1679
Sue Porter - Chippewa - 1533
Stacie Howard - Orrville - 1480

Hannah Plybon - Orrville - 1380 (still active).

Plybon has a real shot to pass Smoot. 20 points per game over 22 games would put her in the 1825-1850 range. A deep run in the tournament could put 1900 points in play.

Good Luck Hannah tonight against Senior...needs just 18 pts to become all-time leading scorer in Orrville Basketball history boys/girls! She has a shot at becoming the girls all-time scorer in Wayne County!

It will be Smithville or Orrville from our district and which ever one should be the favorite to go from NEO. Gilmour could also be a factor. Anyone else would be a longer shot, but thats why they play them.

Smithville seems to have the tougher draw with the 3 and 4 teams going on their side of the bracket and Orrville will have to play Northwestern twice in a couple of weeks to get to district finals.

Smithville would have to play perfect to beat Orrville this year. Without a solid post player for the Smithies, they will struggle once they face better teams. Orrville is too quick on defense and will close out on Smithville's shooters taking away the 3 ball which is the strength of the team. I do believe Smithville can beat CCC. CCC is just not deep enough to hold up against Smithvilles depth and defense.
It is no coincidence that seeds 3 & 4 avoided Orrville. They are the best team at Triway this year. Should be some super semi and final games though!

Although I like Orrville, I think Smithville hasn't gotten the respect from the paper. It will come down to defense and Smithville may have the upper hand there.

It would have been fun to see Orrville Crush Smithville, but I will take beating CCC and moving on!

Great job Girls! Good luck this week in Cuyahoga Falls.

Orrville wins 61-52 in a nailbiter. Will face Beachwood Saturday at 1:30pm at Cuyahoga Falls High School. Hanoverton was way better than I thought they would be. Good defense and some shooters. Maggie played well and the X factor (Trinity) came thru again for the third game in a row to seal it down the stretch. Didn't have any help from the stripes, but he was bad both ways. We still don't block out or run an offense that sets any picks. OH well, were winning still.

But you have to remember that the refs don't look at the game through Orville colored glasses. And the fans never see the game through the black/white striped glasses, that's for sure.
