Sleeper must not be getting much attention from people IRL, so it's time to be all outlandish and stuff online!

By the way, with Ravenel graduating, the "have a better year and win the title next year provided everyone but Thomas returns" statement probably won't happen. Sorry if I burst your bubble.

I likeRavenel a lot. Sure he's not the most skilled but he plays hard and represents the Ohio State university with class.

I like the guy too. He plays defense and doesn't shoot us out of games.

Agreee 100%. I was lukewarm on him last year, but he's grown into one a my favorite Buckeyes this season.

...and sleeper, you've proven to be a fairly knowledgeable OSU fan on a number of threads, but you're sort of embarrassing yourself here. Just sayin'.

lol. I'm not embarrassing myself. I call a spade and spade. Thomas is vastly overrated; sorry that you lack basketball knowledge and the ability to form your own opinion based on watching Thomas play all season. I've lost count on how many times Thomas has taken a junk shot that no coach would ever advise taking; he misses about 60-70% of them and occasionally puts one in. Color me impressed, a 5 year could do that!

I do agree with that. He's given them a legit post presence, which Williams hasn't been able to do.

Williams needs to be eating cheeseburgers every hour on the hour for the rest of the off season. If he puts on good 20lb, look out. EZ.

True. He has the frame, but not the bulk. Which is probably why his post "defense" usually is standing off to the side and hoping to get a block.

I'm not sure adding fat would help Amir at his point. The guy is just lost on the court defensively, he's almost always out of position. At the end of OOC and beginning of conference play it looked like he was starting to put it together, then he just completely fell apart as conference play went on (especially the last 6 games or so).

He's also a sophomore who doesn't get a ton of minutes. Adding weight will take an entire off season. Learning where to be on the court can be fixed with some rotations in the starting lineup.

I was going to say that he doesn't need weight. But at 6'11" 250, that is a tad light. 20 pounds like you said probably wouldn't hurt.

However, I don't think him learning where to be is something that can be or has been fixed easily. He would be getting much more playing time if he new what to do defensively as we have struggled with our Center production for much of the season. Hell, Amir Williams has also struggled staying on the floor recently too with foul trouble which is often because of bad positioning defensively.

He just doesn't get it yet. Hopefully he really develops over the off-season.

I don't know that Williams will ever get it. Most players are showing signs of contribution at this point, and he isn't. Honestly, I worried about him the first time I watched his high school highlight video, he didn't look like much of a player to me, just a guy that got by on being much bigger than everyone else.

lol, now who's showing their lack of basketball knowledge? Williams is a long shot Matta took that didn't work out. He's been given enough minutes to show something, anything, and with the exception of an occassional shot block here and there, has shown zero improvement. Right now, I'd give the nod to Trey McDonald in the off season, in the hope he developes some kind of game to help out next year's squad.

Took Thomas 3 years to learn to play defense and he's finally not a liability at this point... and has shown some really great defensive play at times.

That's all I expect from Amir at this point. He's not going to be Greg Oden, that much is obvious. But he should be able to contribute in a positive manner on the defensive end, and get some put backs and easy dunks on O next year. Also, hopefully he learns to rebound, but this should come with learning how to position better on D.

Williams was a 4 star, top 100 player. He was not a long shot.

Williams 4 stars were solely because of his offensive production. He was a HUGE liability on D early on. Even last year he was still a liability for the most part.

Edit:

I wasn't thinking when reading your post and typing mine. I thought you said Thomas and was speaking about him.

But ya, Williams 4 stars were because he was tall and athletic, he wasn't ever polished offensively or defensively.

That's fine but to say he was a long shot is 100% wrong.

Since when are McDonald's all Americans long shots?

Exactly.

Just call it like it is. He's a high recruit, who hasn't panned out. Not one thing wrong with that.

Thomas showed ability to do it, just had to learn to do it all the time.

He wasn't close to the player that this suggests he was though.
