Agree with your choices, sans the Michigan @ Wisconsin game. Although the Kohl Center is tough, I think Michigan is much better than Wisconsin and will overcome it to get the win.se-alum;1381317 wrote:My predictions for the week. I think it will be a tough one for the Bucks. Oladipo definitely has the ability to slow Thomas down, and OSU doesn't have enough fire power to overcome a bad game by the only legit scorer they have. I also see UM winning by 10-15 at home coming off a tough loss to the Hoosiers.

Just like how Purdue was gonna catch IU looking ahead............Laley23;1380779 wrote:Till Thursday, when they beat Indiana. Im already bracing for it lol.
I can see Illinois beating IU. Unlke the IU/Purdue game, IU vs UI isnt a huge big time rivalry (it was for awhile when BK and Henson were fueding and when IU stole a recruite from them) but it isntlike the Purdue rivalry where ya knew IU would be up for

My prediction as far as OSU is concerned: loses to tsun, beats IU.

Only way I see Illinois winning is if they shoot 40% or better from 3, and Indiana shoots 30% or worse.
IU averages 42% from 3, and shoots 18 per game, while UI averages 33% and shoots 24 a game.
Illinois shooting 24 3's and hitting 40% gives them an additional 5 points over their usual from beyond the arc, and Indiana shooting 18 3's and hitting 30% gives them about 7 points under their usual, or a 12-point swing overall.
But, UI doesn't defend well beyond the arc so I don't quite see it happening. Signs point to a pretty big win for IU for me.

Biggest difference between Illinois and Purdue is the fact that Illinois has guys that are capable of lighting it up. I don't expect it, but they could get hot and pull off the upset. I don't think Purdue has anyone capable of that.thavoice;1381371 wrote:Just like how Purdue was gonna catch IU looking ahead............

Exactly, two of their three big wins (Butler, Gonzaga) they were shooting really well from beyond the arc (40%, 42%) and the third (Ohio State) the opposing team shot like crap.se-alum;1381392 wrote:Biggest difference between Illinois and Purdue is the fact that Illinois has guys that are capable of lighting it up. Damn....Minnesota jumped 5 after barely squeaking by Iowa at home? Who else did they beat last week?

Nebraska, but to be fair, a lot of teams around them in the polls lost

I see Indiana losing to either Illinois or Ohio State. Simply because they're #1 and being #1 hasn't turned out too well for teams for that long this year.thavoice;1381371 wrote:Just like how Purdue was gonna catch IU looking ahead............

Pretty good article regarding Craft and Burke.

Injecting too much energy into a personal rivalry also has possibly led to Burke’s lackluster play against the Buckeyes.
“It’s always in the back of your mind, but when you tend to make things personal in games like this, you tend not to play your best,” Craft said. “He’s still learning, he’s a sophomore.”
It was Craft’s sophomore year when he led Ohio State to within a blip of playing for the national championship. Might that ascent follow Burke and the Wolverines?
“Trey is a hard worker from a great family,” Craft said. “I’ve seen him be very successful at every level. We kind of grew up together and it’s great to see him have success.”
Burke would have enjoyed sharing that success with his childhood friend in his hometown. But now Craft is forced to hope Burke’s triumphs don’t come at the expense of Ohio State.

I'd agree with that. In fact, I think the whole team does it against OSU. Nervous for tonight even at home.vball10set;1381961 wrote:Pretty good article regarding Craft and Burke.

Michigan still doesn't have a great win and no good ones on the road.
BUT, I think they'll likely put it to us tonight. Um by 13-17

Win, not wins. Isnt Minny the only ranked team right now that Michigan beat? I dont count that as a great win, but on the road, its easily a good win.WebFire;1382178 wrote:Yeah, if you take out the wins over top 25 teams you are right.

You are thinking of OSU, who has beat 1. Michigan has beat 3, all on the road or neutral court. Pitt, Kansas St and Minny.Laley23;1382214 wrote:Win, not wins. Isnt Minny the only ranked team right now that Michigan beat? I dont count that as a great win, but on the road, its easily a good win.

Record against Top 25 WHEN THEY WERE PLAYED: 2-2. Wins at home with #18 NC State (no longer ranked) and at #9 Minnesota (currently #18). Losses at #15 OSU (currently #10) and at #3 Indiana (currently #1).
Also have home wins over Kansas State (#13 AP, #15 coaches) and Pitt (#23 AP) before they were ranked at the beginning of the year.
I'd definitely give them kudos for the win at Minnesota. It was game two of a four-game losing streak for them, but the only home loss they've had other than Duke in November. And came right after that narrow loss at Indiana, meaning they won a road game over a highly-ranked opponent coming off a tough loss on the road — which is never easy. The home wins over K-State (particularly) and Pitt look better now than they did in November, while NC State's not as impressive. No bad losses also is a positive, since so many really good teams have at least one "what the hell happened here?" game on their record.
For this year, it's hard to be much better than that overall. Ohio State has a great win with their home one over Michigan, but by your standards, that'd be it, as they're 1-4 against ranked teams at the time of the game. And they've done NOTHING of note in road games, blowing it in the second half against Duke (which could have been a second great win) getting killed by a team that's 2-7 in conference play and having three wins over teams with a combined 30-36 record (Purdue, Nebraska, Penn State).
And I could probably skewer about any team like that to where we're wondering if anyone has any great wins that aren't completely counter-balanced by a loss.
