I have him third on my list right now.

Also, in addition to your 'food for thought' stats, he's also averaging 19pts, 7 assists, 2 steals and only 2 turnovers per game in B1G play.
Yes I watched the game. I just don't think Burke's performance locked up anything. It didn't hurt him, but it didn't help either.A player can't go 9/24 and lock up anything. Kind of a push. The guy who raised his stock in this game was Mitch McGary.

He threw up 2 prayers at the end of the game. One of those was answered, so his shooting percentage actually went up as a result of those thrown up shots.

My only criticism of Burke all year is that he forces too many shots. And some games he takes too may shots. There is too much talent on that team to have to do either.

Austin Hollins just dropped a 3 with 11 seconds left for Minnesota. Up 1 on Iowa. They can't afford to lose this one at home.

Damn...Austin Hollins just drained a 3 with 11 seconds left to give Minnesota a 1 point lead at home against Iowa. Iowa has lead all game.

I think that should have been Iowa ball with 5 seconds left.

The B1G is starting to have a significant break up between the haves and have nots.

It's very possible and even likely they only get 6 bids, but all 6 teams could be seeded 6 or higher and they might have teams seeding on the 1, 2 and 3 lines. Either Wisky or Minnesota probably falls below 6 and Illinois could still sneak in, but still.

Iowa and Illinois had great shots to stay in the NCAA race but have both been piss poor in conference play, while Purdue and Northwestern have been better. Unfortunately, both of them did nothing out of league and neither are in the conversation.

I did too but slowed it down to 1/15th speed and it was still being touched as he just hit OB and he barely beat the defender back to touching it once he lost contact.

Regardless, it was a horrid scheme to get off the GW shot.

1.) Burke

2.) Oladipo
3.) Thomas
4.) Zeller
5.) Paul/Appling/etc.
Not that I disagree Burke is #1 right now, but it isnt a for sure thing at all, imo.

Last night, Victor Oladipo all around might have been just as good, and got the W. From ESPN Stats: Of the 45 possessions for Michigan that Victor was on the floor, he guarded 4 different players and gave up a TOTAL of 4 points.

In addition, he scored 15 pts, 2 ast, 2 reb and 2 stl. He only took 12 shots. Zeller was also great, with 19 and 10 in a W.

I think Burke is still #1, but I actually think Oladipo CLOSED the gap. Then again, I had Burke comfortably ahead before.

REALLY solid game for the Freshman, coming back home and going against Zeller. I was really impressed.

I love McGary. He instantly became a fan favorite in AA. All hustle, all the time. Once they settled him down early in the season, he's been damn good. Also, Horton has put in good minutes since his return from injury. I think this team is still getting better.

I think its kind of scary. I think IU, Mich and MSU are the 3 best B1G teams and all 3 seem to be getting better by the week. I wouldnt be at all surprised if IU and UofM got 1 seeds. But it might go to whoever wins 2/3, should they meet in the B1G Tourney.

No way. IU is the worst possible match-up for them. Put Oladipo on Brandon Paul and go to Zeller 12+ touches in the post and IU rolls. UI really could use Jereme Richmond and Meyers Leonard, even though neither were really winning players...

I mean, I agree. But it just feels like a terrible trap game. More than Purdue (which I expected a double digit win). UofI hates Indiana since the EJ recruitment and IU is coming off MSU, rival Purdue and Michigan. They have OSU on CBS on Sunday. This game will be a lackluster performance, imo. IU could still win by 10+ playing poorly though, so thats good.

That is true, but I guess I just don't see UI being able to muster up the effort to win. They are too far gone...even if IU has a let down after the big UM win a game at OSU...

Thats kind of how I feel. But as a tortured sports fan (Minus Peyton 1 year), Im always pessimistic lol. Im hoping that changes this year with IU!

My rankings, week 6:

1. Indiana - By virtue of their home win over the Wolverines, they take over the top spot. If they are shooting well they will not lose.
2. Michigan - Slip up on the road but not unexpected. Still an elite team.
3. Michigan State - Only the home win against the Illini this week but didn't slip up, so I can't drop them. Tough stretch coming up.
4. Ohio State - Good win over Wisconsin in Columbus. Biggest test of the season to date upcoming at the Crisler Center on Tuesday night.
5. Wisconsin - No unexpected wins or losses this week for the Badgers - took down the Illini on the road but lost in Columbus.
6. Minnesota - Looked good again against Nebraska but needed late heroics to beat Iowa in the Barn. Still, 2-0 is 2-0.
7. Northwestern - Slammed on the road by Michigan, but put a beating on the Boilers in Evanston. Northwestern is a team that can come to play against seemingly better competition.
8. Iowa - Got the must-win against Penn State but lost a heartbreaker in Minneapolis.
9. Purdue - Any time you lose at home by 37 - even if it is against the #1 team in the country - you should drop. The loss is Evanston capped a bad week for Painter's boys.
10. Illinois - 0-2 last week, with Indiana and Minnesota in their next two. Illini could be looking down the barrel of a 2-9 conference start.
11. Nebraska - Outclassed on the road and at home this week against better competition. Nice job keeping it competitive against OSU though. Still playing hard.
12. Penn State - Still haven't seen any evidence that this team will win a conference game.

Conference games of the week:

2/5: Ohio State @ Michigan: Michigan looks to bounce back from their loss at Indiana, and get revenge for their loss in Columbus earlier this year. Expect the Wolverines to come out hot.

2/6: Minnesota @ Michigan State: Revenge is the name of the game as the Spartans will look to earn a season split with the Gophers in East Lansing. Gophers could re-establish themselves as an upper-tier team with a road win in a tough environment.

Iowa @ Wisconsin: Wisconsin looks to avenge their loss in Iowa City in what could be a sneaky-good game.

2/9: Michigan @ Wisconsin: Michigan is the better team but Kohl Center is a tough place for opposing teams.

Penn State @ Nebraska: Penn State's best chance for a conference win the rest of the year.

2/10: Indiana @ Ohio State: Buckeyes week from hell continues as the Hoosiers come to town. Big showdown at the top of the standings, particularly if OSU can find a way to knock off UM earlier in the week.

My predictions for the week. I think it will be a tough one for the Bucks. Oladipo definitely has the ability to slow Thomas down, and OSU doesn't have enough fire power to overcome a bad game by the only legit scorer they have. I also see UM winning by 10-15 at home coming off a tough loss to the Hoosiers.
