I still think IU is the best team in the country and will win the title. Minnesota is a very good team that's just inconsistent to hell. If Minnesota gets hot, I could see them making a run in the tournament.

IU has a very solid team. I dont watch anyone other than IU so I cannot compare to other teams, especially non Big10 teams.

I admit though that they are verey well rounded. Have great athletes, some experience with Watford, Olidipo, Hulls and some bench scoring. Just hope that they can get hrough the reg season and big ten tourney without falllin into a slump. I think in the tourney they come out with a renewed sense of urgency.

I think the Gophers probably screw up a lot of people's brackets. They could make a Final Four run, or they could get bounced in the first round by a mid-major. Like you said, inconsistent as hell.

That's just describing every single team this year.

The inconsistency for Minnesota is much more volatile than other teams.

IMO, the B1G teams that have the best shot at cutting down the nets are IU and MSU. They both have solid guard and post play, as well as seasoned players and excellent senior leadership. Even though these attributes aren't necessary to win it all (see Kentucky, most years), it gives them a solid chance.

Because they have Tom Izzo. That's why. Yes, they have good players as well..but their talent isn't lightyears ahead of other teams where you'd say they're going to the FF just off talent. It's because of Izzo.

That's why I don't think IU will win it all this year. Not saying Crean isn't a good coach. He's certainly a good coach. But the guy's been to one Final Four in his career. He's going to need a few EE, even FF losses before he will win that title. Not going to happen this year.

Every coach who has been to the FF twice, or more, at one time only had one FF appearance prior to that......

It isnt like he has been at IU for 10 years and never been to the F4. What he has done brining back the talent in Indiana to attend IU has been phenomenal. Mike Davis ruined it by turning his back for the most part to the coaches, schools, AAU's and players of the state of Indiana. Calvin Simpsonite was just plain a cheat and a retarded hire and TC has brought the program back to what us IU fans remember. Yeah..he is a little whiney but damn he has brought in some major talent and the future is bright and I expect them to be a serious contender most years. If IU gets bounced before the FF I think it goes like this: a team with a big, physical big man in the middle, some foul trouble and just plain cold shooting. I know..sounds like any game ya lose but I think when it comes down to the nitty gritty the game will be won or loss by IU's first 6 players eitehr making or not making the plays.

I think Nix and Payne have great talent in the front court. Appling and Harris are just a beast combo in the back court. The only problem with MSU is that they are lacking significant depth but like you said they have Izzo and he's a great post season coach.

I'm well aware of what he's done at IU. That wasn't my point.

MSU doesnt have talent?

-Appling
-Dawson
-Harris

All three of them are McDonalds AA. Payne was a 5*. Harris, Dawson and Payne will be making money in the NBA, imo.

They arent super deep, and they arent the MOST talented. But they easily have more talent than most teams. We have seen teams with less do more in the NCAAs.

and I think I get what you are saying........heck I will say they wont win it all this year either.

But then again........No matter what team someone picks to win it all I would take the field vs that pick and would do so in every sport/tournamnt

I'm not really saying MSU doesn't have talent..I said in my earlier post they definitely do have a lot of talent. They're just not a team you would say is a lock for the FF just based on talent..the fact that Izzo is there is why you could argue they're a lock for the FF.

Badgers lose to Purdue at home. Not a good loss for them, out of the running for the championship now.
