Additionally, per Syracuse.com, Katz reported during Wednesday’s game that Southerland told him the academic issue concerned two paragraphs he wrote in a paper. When Boeheim called Katz “disloyal,” it may be because he shared this detail on air when it was told to him in confidence. FOXSports.com’s Peter Schrager says Boeheim was upset that Katz shared a detail about Southerland that was told to him off the record, so this could explain things.

Katz did have a great response to Boeheim, saying to the press room, “last time I checked I wasn’t getting paid by Syracuse U.”

Ive only seen 3 people Tweet this, and no one national yet, so Im not sure what it is.

But you would think he would watch what he says about someone who has his own ESPN show, no matter what his true feelings are. Katz has some influence in the perception of a lot of things college bball, including Syracuse.

Makes sense, and lol at Katz's response. Love it.

But, if something was said to him off the record, he should be ashamed of himself for reporting it. But I dunno if thats the case or not.

That is what it's about. Not a good look for Jim there saying that and while Katz is right that Syracuse doesn't pay him...if stuff is said to you off the record and in confidence that it will remain that way....respect that. JMO

Agreed. I don't care for Katz one way or the other, but think he's full of shit a lot of the time. He appears somewhat trite and inauthentic to me, but that's just my perception of him. I really have no idea other than seeing him on TV five minutes a night for 3 months a year.

Belmont losing to Tennessee State, hurting any chance they had of an at-large bid.

Temple loses at home to Duquesne. The Dukes were 0-9 in conference play entering tonight. Temple was down 8 with 1:25 left and actually came back to take the lead by 1 (probably why Duquesne was 0-9), then fouled with 2 seconds left and lost. They've officially played themselves out of the tournament for the time being.

A couple of interesting small conference games still to come tonight with Denver (15-8, 11-2) @ Utah St (17-5, 8-4) and Montana (18-4, 14-0) @ Weber St. (17-5, 12-2).

Cal 45, UCLA 19. Not even halftime. LOL. UCLA...talk about a trainwreck. They went from a trainwreck, did a 180 and turned it around, and now are derailing again.

I sounds like Julius Randle will be added to the roster. He is returning to HS action tomorrow night and will have 6 weeks to get back into condition. Never know what his performance will be like at the game, but he deserves to be there.

Temple and UNLV (the two teams that I have repped here even more than I have Duke lol) are officially the two biggest disappointments of the season. Just fucking awful what each has done with the amount of talent at its disposal. I'd have to chalk that up to two teams that have talent that is far superior to their coaching. I feel St. John's falls in this category as well, but the Johnnies certainly do not have as much firepower as the other two teams above.

I really wonder how much Mike Moser being out is hurting UNLV. I mean, obviously it is a hit, but at this point in the year they should have recovered and should be winning. Temple is just bad lol. No clue how they fell so hard so fast.

Matthew Dellavedova thinks he is Rex Chapman out there. Pulling up, and hitting, from all over the court. Has 19 first half points as SMC is up on Gonzaga at the half, 33-32.

Weber State crushed Montana. Surprising, the Grizzlies were 14-0 in the Big Sky.

Speaking of disappointments, I'd throw North Texas in there as biggest of the year. Expected to win the Sun Belt, they are 9-18, 4-12...

Louisiana Tech about to go to 22-3, 13-0 in the WAC.

Colorado smacks Arizona around, getting revenge for the screwing in Tuscon.

I am sure that Mike Moser rotating in and out of the lineup like a starting pitcher certainly hasn't helped with the stability and flow of the team. But I agree that a team with that much talent -- I mean, my God, Vegas has two McDonald's All-Americans in the frontcourt alone to replace the 6-8 Moser -- the Rebels should be able to recover and play to their preseason Top 25 status.

The problem is that Dave Rice is in over his head coaching at this level so early. This is only his second year of coaching. If UNLV had a more experienced coach, with this talent, there is no reason they couldn't cut down the nets in April. Anthony Bennett is as good a player as there is in the country, and he has a great nucleus around him.

Though he was a Wildcat, King Rex was the fucking greatest. Loved watching Chapman in the NBA. He was a chucker, but when he was on, he was virtually unguardable. He and Antoine Walker had the deepest range of any three-point shooters I've ever seen in the NBA. Reggie certainly did, too, but he rarely shot from 30 feet out like those two gunners did.

And that toss-around-the-back dunk at All-Star Weekend. Legit.

Matt Dellavedova doing his best to bring down Gonzaga, but the Bulldogs are raining threes. Kelly Olynyk is tough to guard for an 8-footer who primarily shoots jump shots. He's got a great skill set.

Gonzaga maintains a 59-52 lead with 5:15 left.

Gonzaga up 12. Nobody in the West Coast Conference (lol) can touch them. They won't be hung with the rest of the year -- until the NCAAs.

Gonzaga will be a tough team to beat in the tourney. For anyone.

If Georgetown had Greg Whittington, I might pick them to finally go back to the Final Four. Impressive performances by them as of late. Wins over Notre Dame, Louisville, Rutgers, Marquette and Cincinnati.
