Ah, Rice. That's a good one. He's certainly a proven recruiter and coaches a style that would be popular in Pauley.
Another possibility is Sean Miller. While he's doing quite well at Arizona, and while I think Arizona is actually a better program at this point, I think he'd entertain UCLA.

I was going to say Alford. I would say him and Few would be the top 2 most likely candidates.Azubuike24;1334398 wrote:Dave Rice. Steve Alford.
I think UCLA will be fine by the end of the season though. Maybe not enough to keep Howland's job, but I think it's too early to bail on them as a lost cause.

Maybe. They are too talented to miss out entirely. However, I'm not so sure about whether Anderson or Shabazz are the rallying-around type. We know Larry Drew isnt'. I guess I'm just wondering if they ever find their identity. While a great talent, this is the knock Shabazz has had his entire career.
Compare him to guys like Michael Gilchrist, Jared Sullinger, Brad Beal, etc. I'd go to battle with those guys any night, knowing the sole purpose is to WIN. Was this the case with Harrison Barnes? Is it the case with Shabazz?

If Mark Few is ever going to leave, it will be for UCLA. Doesnt lose any recruiting.

Was kind of surprised to see that Florida didn't jump Louisville, after the Cardinals' rather unimpressive play in games against UNI and Saturday against Illinois State, needing all 40 minutes to escape at home in the Yum Center. Florida, undefeated on the year, has looked really good and has yet to even have a close game, with blowout victories over Wisconsin and Marquette and a convincing start to the Georgetown game.gorocks99;1335541 wrote:New AP Poll: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings

Also of note, Kentucky dropped out of the rankings for the first time under Calipari.

1 year anniversary of Watford vs UK sees IU #1 in the polls and UK unranked.
Id say it was a precursor, but UK won the title lol.

Kentucky definitely has to be OK with the fact that they not playing Indiana this year.

No. 4 Syracuse on ESPN. The Orange, I think, were a bit of a sleeper heading into the year. They've looked really good early on.

The Fighting Earl Boykins' coming out hard early in the Carrier Dome. Must have done some shots of Red Bull. The Eagles doing a nice job hitting some shots in the open areas of the zone. I imagine Syracuse will end up winning by 20+.

Syracuse lives. As has been pointed out here recently, Southerland is smooth. He's got that great length for a three-point shooter that makes it almost impossible to stop the shot from happening. He's popping triples at a 55% clip on the year. Another player to add to that discussion of best shooter in the country.

UK's fall from the top 25 was also the biggest in the history of the poll. The Wildcats were ranked No. 8 in last week's. I thought they'd drop big, but I wasn't sure they'd exit the top 25 completely.
With its No. 2 rating, Duke has now been in the top ten for 98 consecutive weeks, the longest such streak in the country. The last time the Blue Devils were not in the top ten was November of 2007.

Duke finished 14th last year in Coaches, what were they in AP? Surely not top 10 after a loss to Lehigh.

That's a ridiculous stat (if true)reclegend22;1335880 wrote:With its No. 2 rating, Duke has now been in the top ten for 98 consecutive weeks, the longest such streak in the country. The last time the Blue Devils were not in the top ten was November of 2007.

AP doesn't do a post season poll, well that I can find at least.Laley23;1335901 wrote:Duke finished 14th last year in Coaches, what were they in AP? Surely not top 10 after a loss to Lehigh.

Well, in that case, thats a VERY flawed stat. The most important poll would be the last one done lol.wildcats20;1335925 wrote:AP doesn't do a post season poll, well that I can find at least.

The final AP poll for last season came out on March 12, Dook was 8th.
The final ESPN/Coaches poll for last season came out on April 3rd, Dook was 14th.

The AP poll is essentially just for show when it comes to college basketball.
The ESPN/Coaches poll is what matters and what is factored in when it comes to the Big Dance.

Yea, it's true about the top ten streak since '07. Read it straight from the Duke Game Notes from the Devils most recent game. I believe Duke has the second longest steak ever, behind only UCLA, but I could be wrong on that. Not sure.

Rankings don't always translate to championships. The Blue Devils only have "one" national title during that time frame. But no matter how you look at it, it's still an impressive mark and a testament to K's consistency year to year.

While true, your statement is not 100% accurate.
