LOL at me for clarifying what I meant. For this one event they are ok. But there are other teams doing it permanently, in football and basketball, and I don't like those. Sorry I didn't type it slow enough for you.Midstate01;1336679 wrote:Lol!!!!
Don't you have some outdated Michigan recruiting articles to read?

No other teams are doing something like this on a permanent basis.

Also loved those NCST jerseys last night. Great gesture.

Is Virginia playing the Tennessee football team tonight? Less than a week removed from their 36-point explosion against Georgetown, the Vols have scored just 10 points with under three minutes remaining in the first half against Virginia. They might just be the worst offensive team in the country from a major conference.

Florida State getting hammered at home against in-state rival Florida. Gators lead it 27 to 13 with 4:29 left in the first half. Maybe Leonard Hamilton should have went to Illinois. This on the heels of losing to Mercer at the Leon County Civic Center earlier in the week. Ouch.

Florida is easily the most impressive of the bunch thus far, along with Duke and Indiana...

Arkansas/Michigan in a good one right now. Hurts the Hogs that B.J. Young remains on the sidelines with an injury.

He came back in pretty quick. Horford with 2 blocks in a row there, late in the game. But that can't be, he comes off the bench.

Arkansas stuck in catch-up mode the whole 2nd half. Not getting enough stops.

Oh quit your crying. I will say though that they've been out scored in bench points 24-7 so far todayWebFire;1338544 wrote:He came back in pretty quick. Horford with 2 blocks in a row there, late in the game. But that can't be, he comes off the bench.

Me crying? Just pointing out a fact since you were so adamant to "call me out" on the other thread. I know they are being outscored. Scoring isn't the only thing a bench provides. Surely you understand that?Classyposter58;1338550 wrote:Oh quit your crying. I will say though that they've been out scored in bench points 24-7 so far today
BTW, the bench is getting outscored, but who's going to win?

It's just hard to win titles with a very short bench. OSU tried it with the National POY and failed against a deep athletic teamWebFire;1338553 wrote:Me crying? I don't disagree. Michigan's bench isn't a going to be a scoring machine. But with so many in the regular rotation being scorers, they don't need to. They need to give the others a breather without fucking up the game, and that they can do. Horford will come in and play defense and rebound. Vogrich (who oddly didn't play any today) and Spike can come in and handle the ball and manage the offense. I don't even count McGary as bench because he will contribute a lot. But Michigan will never not have a scorer on the court.Classyposter58;1338564 wrote:It's just hard to win titles with a very short bench. Disagree about the short bench. Kentucky played 6 players (27 MPG or more) and only went 7 deep last year. Connecticut played 6 players (25 MPG or more) and only went 8 deep in 2011. In 2010, Duke played Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer 36 MPG...which is the most I can ever recall for a national champion. Those guys rarely came out of the game and scored like 70% of their total points (again, the most I can remember for a team who won it all).
You don't need great depth to win a title. What you DO need with a short rotation is versatility. UK may have only went 6 deep, but they had a SG and SF (Lamb and Miller) who could also play PG. They had 2 SF's who could also defend PG, SG (Miller and Kidd-Gilchrist) and a PF (Jones) who could easily play center at both ends. Those 6 players could fill 8 or 9 different "spots" on any given scenario.
