That's the worst 5 second call I've ever seen. He was 7 feet away from him

I think this is perhaps more an indication of condomless teenagers not having a firm understanding of where babies come from than it is of your age. If Shawnta received All-America honors in 1999, then how old was he when he had his kid, 14? Lol. I guess Rogers could have been an older player while at GW. I don't really know.sportswizuhrd;1334066 wrote:Not sure how old many of you(I'm 30) are or how long you have been watching college basketball but are any of you familiar with Shawnta Rogers from GWU? Was an Honorable Mention AA back in 99 and also A-10 POY. Played for Mike Jarvis and Tom Penders. Probably best known for being 5 foot 4(I followed him a lot at the time because I too was short and was playing HS bball).
Anyways...He has a son playing for Delaware (playing against Duke today). Nothing in my life has made me feel older than hearing about this last week when Delaware was playing Pitt in the NIT. LOL.

If we were to assume his son is 18 (team roster on school site says freshman but does not give an DOB), then Shawnta Rogers was 18(he will be 37 in January) when the son was born.reclegend22;1334080 wrote:I think this is perhaps more an indication of condomless teenagers not having a firm understanding of where babies come from than it is of your age. While my math is obviously suspect, 18 is still far too young to be bearing children. That is an entirely different discussion, however, and it looks like the kid turned out all right being that he has gotten himself a scholarship to college, so that's a positive story.sportswizuhrd;1334089 wrote:If we were to assume his son is 18 (team roster on school site says freshman but does not give an DOB), then Shawnta Rogers was 18(he will be 37 in January) when the son was born.

Owensboro, KY native Tyler Brown with 25 to lead Illinois State at the Yum Center.
Tight game, UL up 1 with 18 seconds left.

He missed a three at the buzzer. Cards beat the "Cards" 69-66.

Ron "Fang" Mitchell, who led 15th seeded Coppin State to a victory over No. 2 seed South Carolina in the 1997 NCAAs, once again has upset on his mind, this time in Bloomington against the No. 1 team in the country. And just as a type this, a single-digit game with less than minute to play in the first half balloons to over 15. Lol.
Coppin State had a lead midway though the first half, but Indiana has regrouped. Surprised by this result so far, though. IU has looked so very good of late.

So he's definitely not coming back to Saint Louis then? Shit. Will miss the guy as a personality. He was great for the game.SportsAndLady;1334258 wrote:Rick Majerus, dead
In other news, Indiana absolutely putting it to Coppin State in the second stanza. They've woken up. Up 30.

In pathetic MAC news, Northern Illinois put up a whopping 5 points in the first half against Dayton. 7.7% from the field. Couple that with a home loss to YSU by BG, it's been a good day, lol

I worked the BGSU game today. They suck. Their womens team, however, who I also covered, is pretty solid.
But wow, YSU shoudlve beaten BGSU by like 25.

Met Orr at Wal-Mart the summer that he arrived in BG. I saw him from three aisles away, his head was that tall. I approached him and introduced myself and told him how exciting his teams were at Seton Hall -- he guided the Pirates to multiple NCAA appearances in the early 2000s -- and how much BG was looking forward to watching his teams play. He thanked me and then I never watched his team play one time. Lol.Classyposter58;1334323 wrote:No way Orr isn't fired after the season
See ya, Lou. Great guy, though. He was always pleasant in passing through Anderson Arena halls.

UCLA about to go down again. The Bruins trail San Diego State, 70 to 64, with under two to play. With a loss, preseason No. 3 UCLA will fall to 5-3, with a loss to Cal Poly and an overtime victory over Cal Irvine. They are a horrible basketball team and Ben Howland is a horrible coach.

Orr is such a nice guy, but he has to go. They are just terrible. I wonder if his kid will transfer??? To be honest, Chauncey probably isnt much better than BGSU anyway though...

Is anyone more overrated than Kyle Anderson? He was a consensus top 5 player and some thought he was #2 overall...

So, we've talked about this before, but now that Ben Howland is for sure getting fired at the end of the year, who's UCLA gonna target and ultimately get?
Rick Majerus can be ruled out. I say that Mark Gottfried, a former Bruin assistant coach, will be one of the targets after UCLA's delusional targets of Billy Donovan, Thad Matta, Bill Self and Tom Izzo are not returning calls. Other realistic targets could be Mark Few, Brad Stevens (not likely) and John Beilein (perhaps?).

Oh, and I am sure Laley would get a kick out of this, but I saw on UCLA's scout board earlier that they were throwing around Tom Crean's name. Haha. I've never understood any of the schools in the Super Six thinking that a coach would leave one for the other. (The Roy Williams scenario was just a special case, as that's where he began his career under Dean Smith and had the emotional connection, etc.)
