So Miami's loss to Gulf Coast is looking a little better after they will win the Atlantic Sun tournament here in a few minutes.

Call it a silver lining of the conference realignment age (that we're still currently in)...you'll see some great matchups in the tourney that will revisit old rivalries. Love it.reclegend22;1403093 wrote:As of last night, Lunardi had Kansas as a one seed with Missouri in the 8/9 game in that bracket. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that happen. It would be great drama for the tournament.
Kanas/Missouri
G'Town/Cuse
Maryland/Duke (not really a great rivalry, but they've had some great games in the past)
Possibly a Duke/UNC here soon
Louisville/???
Pitt/???
Then you have all those catholic schools that are forming their own conference. Mid-majors too...Gonzaga/St Marys, etc.

Maybe Wildcats or ironman02 can provide more insight into this, but if you are referring to the rumors of UNC to the Big Ten, I don't think there's a realistic chance of that happening. I'm not worried about the ACC dissolving at this point. At least not in the next few years. But who knows down the road.SportsAndLady;1403097 wrote:Call it a silver lining of the conference realignment age (that we're still currently in)...you'll see some great matchups in the tourney that will revisit old rivalries. I agree with your overall point, though. There will be the opportunity for some really great NCAA matchups this year that otherwise wouldn't have been able to happen until the Elite Eight at the earliest (and rarely do those types of conference matchups in the tourney ever come to fruition).

Mike Hopkins possibly headed to USC. Adrian Autry or Gerry McNamara will be next Head Coach for Syracuse if that happens.
Boeheim and Big John Thompson embrace after the game. Very cool.

Florida Gulf Coast won't get a 16. They are one of those teams, like Norfolk State last year, who has a chance at a reeling 2-seed.

I'm just not afraid of Florida in the Tourney. I wouldn't mind at all if they were the 2/3 seed in Kansas' bracket.Mulva;1403105 wrote:Has Florida scored in the 2nd half? Terrible offense.

I know, and I still think it's completely unnecessary, especially since the schools have talked about extending their "rivalry" through OOC games.wildcats20;1403104 wrote:The last time they will play in conference. It's not just a win.
Rushing the court is all too common.

Not a good loss for Florida. They are out of the top seed consideration officially.
For Kentucky, it's possibly a season-saving win.

UK is in, barring a bad loss in the SEC Tourny.

I was referring to that rumor...it's probably only that. I definitely don't think the ACC will dissolve, just think the B1G may be able to snag UNC from them. Probably won't happen though. Imagine if it did though..2nd round matchup (8) UNC/ (1) Dukereclegend22;1403100 wrote:Maybe Wildcats or ironman02 can provide more insight into this, but if you are referring to the rumors of UNC to the Big Ten, I don't think there's a realistic chance of that happening. Hell, the Gators could fall to a 4-seed. You're going to have 2 Big East teams and 3 Big Ten teams getting 1-3 seeds. Kansas, K-State, Gonzaga, New Mexico, Duke, Miami...if UF goes out on Friday in the SEC-T, their other numbers aren't 2 or 3-worthy.

I agree with you, but it would be based on reputation only if the Cats lose early in the SEC Tourney and still get in. Their resume is about as impressive as a doorman's.wildcats20;1403114 wrote:UK is in, barring a bad loss in the SEC Tourny.
But credit to UK for pulling out the win today with their backs against the wall. I mean, they were finished. Everybody had written them off. They deserve credit for playing tough and playing their way back into the conversation.

No guarantee that happens and even if it does it won't be the same. G'town beat Syracuse in their last conference meeting (and possibly last meeting for foreseeable future) and locked up at least a share of the last Big East regular championship that truly means something. I have no problem with it at all.

Archie Goodwin was very open with his words after Thursday's loss. He backed it up today, had a decent game scoring and played hard.
One negative is, it's quite clear with the lack of big man prospects in this draft, Nerlens Noel's injury will also probably cost Kentucky Willie Cauley-Stein. He has a unique game that you really only see in the NBA.
