Anyone staying up tonight to watch some basketball??? The 24 hour tip-off starts at midnight. I might watch Gonzaga-West Virginia, but that will probably be it until around noon tomorrow. Will probably try to catch Temple/Kent St...Butler/X...Detroit/St. Johns...VCU/Wichita St....then the primetime games tomorrow night.

I'll watch the Gonzaga game. Stayed up to watch the Zags last year to start the 24 hour tip-off and was rewarded with an entertaining shooting display from freshman Kevin Pangos, who hit nine three-pointers in his college debut. He's a heck of a player and I also love Bob Huggins, so it should be a decent game.

Will have to stop by Starbucks on the way to work in the morning and do some coke in the bathroom. Not much of a coffee drinker. Ha.

Great advertisement placement for Lexus in the middle of that West Virginia fast break as it broke to commercial. Lol at ESPN.

Gonzaga looking pretty good in the first half. The Bulldogs are really getting out in transition and knocking down outside shots. Pangos and Gary Bell, Jr. are a potent combo from beyond the arc. West Virginia, on the other hand, has looked just awful.

34 to 12 Gonzaga. Might be the last time Huggins visits The Kennel.

Kinda glad its a blowout. I need sleep, and a close game wouldve kept me up for the duration. See everyone in the am.

Wasn't there a poster named mcbref who was an avid Gonzaga fan? Wherever he is, he has to be optimistic about the Zags' chances this year in March after last night’s 84 to 50 decimation of West Virginia. They really look very good to start the year, featuring an array of scorers from the top of the lineup on down -- six guys are averaging 11.5 or more points per game for the Bulldogs in the first two games. And as always, they have a crew of really big, skilled kids manning the front court, so losing Robert Sacre to graduation shouldn’t be much of an issue. Guy Edi (6-6), Elias Harris (6-8) and a trio of centers in Sam Dower (6-9) and seven-footers Przemek Karnowski and Kelly Olynyk, all of which can play.

What does all of this mean? Based on Gonzaga’s tournament history post Matt Santangelo, probably nothing. But with another solid – yet not quite as grueling as years’ past – regular-season schedule with OCC games against Clemson, Illinois, Baylor and Butler, the Bulldogs should rack up a dizzying number of wins and earn a good seed in the tournament, giving them a chance at a deep run.

Worth noting:

Albany beat Washington 63-62 last night in Seattle. Not sure what UW has this year but a nice victory for tOSU's non conference opponent.

Also, Albany's next opponent is UMKC (Mizzou-Kansas City) on Saturday - and in turn, UMKC's next opponent is Ohio State on 11/23

Sean Kilpatrick and Cashmere Wright put on a show as Cincy put 102 on the board last night against the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State, a program that's no stranger to playing well against the big boys. Kilpatrick and Wright formulate one of the deadliest one-two punches shooting the three in the country and if they continue to gel, the Bearcats could be dangerous.

Speaking of that combo, college basketball this year features more prominent backcourt shooting tandems than I can remember in awhile. Off the top of my head, Cincy's Kilpatrick and Wright, Gonzaga's Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell, Butler's Rotnei Clarke and Kellen Dunham, Baylor's Brady Heslip and Pierre Jackson, Indiana's Jordan Hulls and Jordan Hulls, Duke's Seth Curry and Rasheed Sulaimon, Michigan's Tim Hardaway, Jr. and Trey Burke and UNLV's Bryce Jones and Katin Reinhardt.

Also throw in NC State's Scott Wood and Rodney Purvis as shooter deluxes.

I'm excited to watch all of these guys as the year progresses. It's refreshing to see good shooting not at such a premium as it seems to be some years.
