The iPhone 5 will be announced in a week. I'm buying it because I'm a brainless Apple drone. Beside the obvious change (form factor) what do you think will be new?

What is the obvious change? I really haven't read much about it. How much will it cost?

The screen is going to be larger and the phone is going to be thinner.

Not sure of the price. I'm guessing $200 on contract, like usual.

Nice, I like it. I wonder if they will have the projected keyboard that was rumored.

I've seen a rumor of NFC. Not really concerned with that but it wouldn't be a bad thing.

I read somewhere that Siri will be greatly improved, we'll see. Also, I believe it's supposed to have a larger, thinner screen. 4G connectivity will also be nice.

The biggest question for me will be which provider to use. We have Sprint now and I dislike it. We essentially have no service in our house and don't have a landline. I'd obviously like to have more reliable service in the house going forward. I'm leaning towards Verizon at this point.

I left Sprint about 8 years ago due to lack of service outside of towns/cities. I've had no problems with ATT, but it all really depends where you live, of course. Verizon hasn't made many strides in this area as far a service goes.

I have 4g for my 4s through AT&T. It was on the first or second upgrade on the phone. Mine actually runs really fast

It says 4G, but it's not true 4G. It did improve speed, but true 4G will be better.

It didn't even improve the speed. The 4s could always access the HSDPA network. Apple just didn't want to label that as 4G. When the iOS 5 came out, Apple finally agreed to label that as 4G strictly for marketing purposes.

But the new iPhone should be LTE capable on all carriers. Which means in Cincinnati...the Verizon version will be the only one that's able to take advantage of it.

Basically, AT&T and Sprint do not have LTE in this market yet. And they probably won't have it for some time. So when the new iPhone hits with LTE (which it will almost assuredly have), the only carrier that actually has LTE available currently in this market is Verizon. So the Sprint and AT&T versions of the iPhone...in most places in the country...will still be 3G phones.

Aren't you just a shill for Verizon anyway? ;)

But seriously, you work for Verizon right?

Ohhh, that's right. I knew it was a phone company of some sort.

I think you've talked me into going with Verizon, though.

Definitely a good move. If I can't convince you to switch to a Motorola phone, you should at least go with the right carrier for your iPhone.

My brother in law has Verizon and I am pretty sure he had good service in our house when he lived with us. I thought about sticking with Sprint and just getting one of those service extender boxes but I'd rather just have good service. The only downside is we lose our unlimited everything package but after looking at our data usage it shouldn't be an issue.

I doubt I'll get it. I don't think I'm available for an upgrade until around Q2ish anyway, but I am looking forward to OS6.
