I Believe Campbell will pound the ball on the ground about 60 to 70%! and 40 to 28% passing. leave 2% for trick plays. Campbell I seen this scenario before with kids looking drained and what not. a few extra laps and that should be eliminated. My son goes the whole summer without running. A week before practice starts he runs. And his scrimmages he looked whooooooped. But now he said he not so out of breath. I asked him why not just run a few times a week in the off season. He laughed at me. But he is in shape now and feels good. So i don't worry about that i see it all the time. Campbell has a lack of Kicking Game and from what i heard depth in the corners. Everybody hold tight.

Strengths:

Coaching! Hands down the best coaching staff of the post Zetts era.

Run offense! More depth at RB.

Pass offense! Muntean had an entire offseason to work as the starting QB, and will have better athletes at WR.

Run defense! Better tackling. They also return at least 9 letter winners in the front 7, 6 with starting experience.

Weaknesses:

Offensive line! I'm not even so sure it's a weakness, it may just be a personal concern. Like always, the success of the team will hinge on the performance of the offensive line. Last year's line really struggled in pass protection. They do return 3 starters. I really like that The Papes moved to the left side, and Wagner moved to RT.

Pass defense! Maybe not a weakness, but definitely another concern I have. 3 new starting DBs, and Wess only started like half the season last year. Can they stay disciplined against playaction? I do think Donadio at FS is a nice compliment to Kimbrough at SS. Wess and Serrano will need to hold their ground on the outsides.

Opening game jitters, turnovers, special teams and who wants it more. Campbell has a lot of talent, but being the rivalry that it is, anything can happen. Maybe the home crowd will affect the outcome. The place should be packed.

I look for a close, exciting game.

Pull it out, Wildcats!

Struthers has just as much talent this season, maybe not as much depth but talent wise they are very similar

Cant argue with that. Might just be a little more speed on Campbells side. other then that i cant say what the outcome will be. i see the line up as straight across the board like i said other then speed.

Campbell has decent size, good skill, a veteran quarterback who can make plays with his feet and who is capable of lighting it up through the air when he is on his game, a deep backfield, and good receivers. The offensive line has a sophomore starting at center and a big junior who saw minimal playing time last season getting some reps at right tackle. The defensive line is big. But the D-line will not be as fast as last season. Overall I don't think Campbell has the team speed that it had last season. They are still quick. But not as quick as last season. Campbell has two linebackers who are very athletic. My biggest concerns with Campbell are the secondary and special teams, particularly kickoff and punt coverage. The secondary blew some coverages in the Niles scrimmage. That has to be shored up because I suspect Struthers is going to try to throw the ball. Special teams worry me because Campbell lost a kicker to graduation who was able to kick it to the goal line on kickoffs. And despite the deep kicks, the kick coverage was mediocre last season. The punter also has to get the ball off a little faster or Struthers may have a chance to block one. Since special teams are not seen in scrimmages, this concerns me. I hope things have gotten better over last season, particularly coverage wise. Also, any chances of field goals are slim to none. Campbell will have to rely on its offense to convert on third down in the red zone and to punch it in. I believe this will be a very competitive game that may come down to which team takes care of the ball better.

Very well said Dean. I always read everything you have to say. As you know im not close enough to catch every practice like years ago. I use to catch 2 to 3 practices a week and never missed scrimmages. But now i my info comes more and more from here and my family. Since my Brother had hip replacement a few months back he has only felt good enough to see the Niles Scrimmage. But he was very impressed with the offence. He said the defense is very solid on the line but the secondary is a problem. And we already knew right off the bat there was gonna be a problem in the kicking game. you just cant replace probably the best kicker well the best i have witnessed in team history. I think if what is said is true that there was a dedication and off season conditioning we will be in the mix this year to make devils history. 3 AAC's
