You can be mad at me all you want. One of his assistants told me mid-season. It is my opinion that the talent is gone. I guess time will tell on that one.

If you think the talent is gone then you obviously weren't paying much attention to their games this year and severely damages your credibility. The pure fact most of their best players were underclassmen negates your whole point of view

Exactly Cardsflyinhigh.
What part of my post to you do you not understand Archie? How in the world do you expect anybody to believe your bologna??? No assistant coach could have possibly told you that with what they have returning. The starting QB, three starting receivers....2 very good backs and 3 O-linemen returning along with all the LB's and most of the DB's and a very good kicker. All BACK next season. Yep....they are losing everyone next year....whatever

I don't care if you believe me or not. I was told that he was resigning in September by an assistant coach. I found it hard to believe at the time, but it turns out it is true.

Told he was resigning is one thing.....told he was resigning because the talent is gone is a story made up by you. Plain and simple. Tell your stories somewhere else.

Curious, how many Campbell athletes are currently on collegiate rosters at any level due to his efforts ?

I'm curious maverick, are you suggesting that a high school coaches worth is directly proportional to the number of athletes that move on to college and continue to play at the next level?
If that's your point you are grossly ignorant to the point of hilarity.

ytownfootball, there are many variables that contribute to the "worth" of a high school football coach.
One of the most visible is the number of athletes that use football as a catalyst for furthing their academic lives. I know many high school coaches and one of their biggest sense's of pride is the number of athletes they have that move on to both play and earn degrees because of their football experience. I'm not referring to the blue chip divison I recruits in as much as they take care of themselves. It's the athlete that a coach develops and help use football as a tool to go on to the DIAA, DII, DIII and NAIA schools, further their football experience and memories, network with other coaches and athletes to further their academic and professional lives. It's taking the atlete that wouldn't have gone to college and not only played but now has a degree. Or the young man who thought college was out of reach and is now not only playing college football but going to class and has new coaches help mentor and develop them into future leaders due to the efforts of a high school football coach.

OK, as a variable of many aspects I'll agree.
My next question would be by asking this question you apparently have thoughts as to whether or not Bayuks track record on the matter qualifies as "good" or "bad"?
I would submit that the three years as Campbell coach is quite a small sample on which to base any kind of assesment in this regard, particularly in light of his desire to leave the head coaching ranks.

ytownfootball,
Coach Bayuks record would not indicate "good" or "bad" as too matriculating athletes to the next level, but more "indifferent" or "average" at best in qualification of that criteria.
That's why I asked the orginal question, in three years of seniors how many were helped to the next level or into higher education ?
He may well be an exemplary citizen if that's your criteria for best in the area.

Which is why I responded with: You can be mad at me all you want. One of his assistants told me mid-season. It is my opinion that the talent is gone. I guess time will tell on that one.
It is my opinion that Campbell will be worse next year than they were this year. Simple as that. You feel differently. I get it.

I agree to disagree. But what I want to know is explain to me who is gone talent wise.
Nick Golec is a big loss simply because the kid is a motivator and runs harder than hell. With A.J. Kelly you lose experience on the line. You lose one decent Db in Copeland. Alex Lopez was fast and I must admit....for a team that may have needed a bit of practice in the tackling dept....Alex actually hit pretty hard for his size. That's where it ends. Yes I know I did not put a certain name down...he will be replaced and then some. For that matter, they will all be replaced. You have to give me a reason why you think this team is worse off. The loss of Bayuk??? I get that. But if the entire staff is kept with Sikora at the helm, they pick up right where they left off. If the Board goes a different direction with coaches.....then I believe you and I will be on the same exact page because in my opinion....the talent will be less. Why?? Because the kids will jump ship if this staff is not there. Plain and simple.

I thought there was more pride in Campbell than a bunch of kids who will quit if they don't get to pick their coach. If they are talented winners like you say then they will play for anyone not run to another program.

Listen, these kids have a bond with this staff, and they have the right to leave if they want to. Those guys were there for those kids when nobody cared about them. It's not about a "Campbell Pride" thing, they have it, it's just more of a "hey you actually cared enough to want to help us" thing. Where was this former coach five years ago when the job first became open? He wanted nothing to do with it, now he wants to swoop in and coach because he knows this is a talented group of kids and the tide is turning. I think standing by the coaching staff and leaving is the least they can do to return the favor. Can you honestly blame them?

Nope. I do not blame them at all.
I do think there is a fine line between accomodating a situation because it is best for all involved....and accomodating a 15 year old because if you don't he runs to another team.
My point, I agree that this staff needs to stay. They deserve to. The kids gel with them as well. If the kids said it to me in that manner...I would respect that. Knowing the staff is a great staff, it would be easy to agree with them. But my decision would go beyond what a 15 year old is telling me. In other words...if a kid told me that I better bring a certain coach aboard or he is going to another team....I would tell him don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. No other way to put it. Kids do not control the situation. Again...in this case I agree. This staff needs to stay. Whether the kids think so or not. They DO NOT MAKE the decisions. They ARE PART of the decision making process. Food for thought.

A comment like this kid made is a compliment to the staff, plain and simple. I would not be surprised to hear the same thing from a lot of parents. They will give their support to the men who stepped in to help their kids when things were at there worst. I personally think this team will be better next year than they were this year.
I was surprised to see coach go but he's a good guy and I know he had to think hard about giving it up. I wish hom the best.

It looks like Coach Sikora will be the new head coach. Hopefully the rest of the staff will stay intact. I believe Sikora was previously the defensive coordinator under Coach Bayuk at Campbell. Unless Sikora assumes the double duty of being HC and DC, Campbell will need a new defensive coordinator. I believe South Range and Mineral Ridge have both been added to the Campbell schedule for next season. I am not sure about the other non-conference games. Hopefully the Red Devils can keep Salem, Liberty, and Struthers on the schedule. I believe Toronto and Brookfield are being replaced with South Range and Mineral Ridge. From my perspective, that is an upgrade in competition.
