No, he says that he said that before they even got in the truck. There's no way he would hear Henry state that he would do the deed by jumping out of the vehicle.

Obviously people are covering for the fiance, to prevent her from being charged with anything. One of two things happened here:

1. He lost his balance on a curve and fell out on accident.

2. She was juking the truck to get him to stop banging on the window and chucked him out. This is what she thinks the police are investigating, thus the "corroborating" story from the neighbor.

Why is it unbelievable? If people are being honest, Henry's death probably will impact someones life more than a Marine in Iraq. You read a newspaper, see a Marine died, and then probably forget about it when you turn the page. Henry was a high profile football player and will stick in peoples' minds.

I'm not saying the Marine's sacrifice isn't greater, I'm just saying Henry's death probably did have a greater impact.

Unless you knew them or had some sort of connection, neither will significantly affect your life in any way. It will likely be forgotten not long after it happens.

Yea, I don't get why his comment was so "unbelievable".

Marines die in wars monthly (if not daily) and you see it on the news and don't thnk twice about it most times. You hate to hear those types of things and feel sorry for the families, but that's it.

I will say that Chris Henry's death did nothing to me other than discuss it on freehuddle, but for someone to say his death affects them more makes complete sense.

If anyone disagrees with that, then I think we should be a lot more discussion about Marine's that die in action here on the Huddle and plenty of discussion about each of them.

I really don't buy the whole the report that he said if she didn't pull over, he was going to jump out and kill himself. To me, that sounds like she is trying to cover her ass for something she did on purpose or even on accident.

I could see him saying it to simply get her to stop, but in no way being serious. If someone was going to kill themself it surely wouldn't be by jumping out of a truck. This saddens me that this has even been brought up.

Interesting conversation. Here are a couple things I don't get:

How do you know that? Is that just based on the fact that he hasn't been in the news or arrested for something recently? I know that is what his friends said and all that, but are they really going to say, "same old Chris f'd up again", when the guy just died?

Also, would it be any less sad if he had just recently been in trouble? Is it only sad now because you think he deserved to live for "getting his life together"? If he had died two years ago, would you have felt differently since his trouble was public knowledge?

Do you think that a Marine's family feels worse about losing a loved one than anyone else? I understand that you may want to argue that a Marine contributed more positively to society or something like that, but to act as though death is any more impactful to the person's family is just silly.

As far as those of us who didn't know any of the subjects personally, most of us have compassion in general for human life. And the extent to which you go with that compassion is more based on your own experience or interaction with the person who passed.

Name me a Marine who died and since I don't know anything about him, I'll have the same level of compassion for his mother, wife, kids, parents as anyone else that I read about randomly. I won't sit and think about it. I am not likely to cry about it. And it isn't going to inspire me to suddenly change who I am or any of my beliefs. All of those same things apply to this Chris Henry guy, with the exception being that I'll probably talk about it more because there is a common experience that many people share in which he was a part (sports is a major investment of time and money for some people). Still not going to cry, still not inspired, and still not changing anything.

Chris Henry=Dead Thug!! Any service connected veteran dying in combat, dies with honor and dignity!! Two things you will never hear mentioned about Chris Henry.

I think she killed him. Not on purpose and definitely not premeditated, but she was upset with him and wanted to get away (at least for a little while, maybe for good) and she was trying to get him off the truck, thinking he would be fine and just go home and cool off.

And for the record Tiernan, I'm not a tough guy, and it is a tragedy when a serviceman dies (regardless of the branch) but to say this isn't worthy of the news its getting is asinine. The fact is that if any 1 of my 3 good friends currently in the military died tomorrow you'd not know a thing about it other than someone from Ohio was killed in the war. Henry was a high profile guy that almost every NFL fan and subsequently 99% of the people on this site, could put a face to. Like it or not if you recognize the name or face of someone who has died it affects you more than if you didn't.

I think it's pretty sad and pathetic that people are comparing the lives and "levels of sadness" when a young persons life is cut short. Now we see the Military and people lose their lives over there and it's reported everyday. Do l feel pain and heartache, Not really (Unless I know the person or family) but I do feel sorry for their mothers, fathers, son, daughters, aunts ect... yes I do and I respect the sacrifice they did for this country. It just happens all to often that don't make it less important it's just that people have become numb to the fact that it happens all to often over there and they have grown to just take it as the norm.

Now Chris Henry was a professional football player and it was a freak accident so of course it's going to get national attention and likely so for the next few days until all the details have came out as to what actually happened. I'm willing to bet that maybe 85-90% of everyone was just like "aww that is sad" and that's all that they would feel and move on to the next story. But I've been a Bengals fan ever since I was little and grew up watching football w/ my dad (I'm 27) so I love this team as I'm sure some of yo diehard fans are of your favorite team. I sat here for hours watching ESPN all day and I cried seeing Ochocinco's comments and hearing some of the stories from Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown during their press conference yesterday and reading fellow teammates and players reactions as well.

I didn't know Henry and never met the guy. I just enjoyed watching him play the game. The guy was a freak on the field, 6'4 220 ran a 4.3 40 and could jump like crazy. But I'm gonna remember during training camp this season Chad would UStream live from their "dorms" they all had and they would play Madden 10 on XBox and Slim was terrible lol .... Henry was reading the chat log and I wrote in there ... "Come on Slim get a touchdown at least" and I got a shoutout back from him. I know it's nothing but I was like sweet, that's pretty cool. He was just being himself whenever he was on there w/ Chad all training camp so we felt like we got to see him in his element and he was on the right path.

Since I was the one who started the whole Marine vs C. Henry debate in the first place allow me a second to explain. Many of you have hit upon it already. My prime gripe was that when the news first broke, so many people and radio talk hosts (many who often totally bashed the guy for his multiple previous trespasses) were going on and on about how this was such a terrible terrible tragedy my point was very few folks ever even notice what a true tragedy is...such as: young Marines coming home in body bags. And then some of you had the audacity to try and say Henry's death somehow will impact your lives more than dead American soldiers ever would. If that is truly the case, I feel very sorry for the shallowness of the life you must lead.

Eh, they both impact my personal, actual life equally.

I think Henry shocked me more, which shouldn't be at all surprising, but after a few minutes, I moved on. Much like when I hear about a Marine. I feel for the families, but after a few, I move on.

You don't get what some of us are tying to say ...... I haven't actually shed a tear b/c I haven't had a family member die overseas if I did I'm sure I'd feel the same way as you. Now do I respect the young man or womens decision to join the military and feel for their families if they have suffered a loss, Absolutely! Has a soldier impacted my life personally in my surroundings not really at all, but I do acknowledge what they have sacrificed and done and how it has shaped how I am able to live my life and do the things I do. I'm just saying quit trying to make people feel bad b/c they feel a sense of loss for someone that they enjoyed watching play the game of football and gave them entertainment and a sense of joy when they did something that made you go "WOW" ... Have respect for this young man is well, that's all I'm saying.

Here is how I imagine it going down:

1.) Get into fight
2.) Fiance is either threatened or just tired of arguing so leaves
3.) Henry wants to make amends and continue talking it over, so he tries to stop her by getting in back of truck
4.) Henry either falls out because he was jumping around/on edge, or she was swerving around (or both)

If she was swerving around, I think there is an argument to be made for self-defense. Chris Henry is an NFL player, and if he is in the back banging on the truck, it is understandable to be scared and try to get him off. I am not saying he had evil intentions or even threatened her, but how does she know what his intentions are? The situation sucks for all involved.

I think that is a good point. Nobody actually cares about the death of a person unless it impacts them personally.

While Henry's death is sad, it really has no bearing on my life. I'm not going to around with fake sympathy and post his number with RIP all over the place.

It's sad, but I probably won't think about it past tomorrow. This is the way with most deaths.
