Not sure who to compare Bruce to....not Dunn, but not sure who. I believe with good hitting coaches/managers around him he's be significantly more consistent/better.

This kipnis over BP talk is funny. I realize you all still hate the fact you traded him and his career took off. But basing everything on kipnis' first full season is laughable.

Agreed. I just hope Kipnis doesn't end up being as frustrating for you Indian fans as Bruce can be for us Reds fans! lol

Would love to see what this Reds offense could do with a legitimate hitting coach. Jacoby is the biggest joke in the league.

Why in the world would someone hate the Indians trading away Phillips??? He is an All-Start talented player who needed a change. The Indians weren't going to use him they way he could thrive. There were players ahead of him when he was ready to play everyday. It was good for him to be traded and it was good at the time for the Indians to get value for him.

I hope he has a long and productive career wherever he's at.

Hate bp? Seriously that's a joke. No one hates bp that are Cleveland fans, everyone knew he needed a change of scenery. Are we disappointed he couldn't do it in Cleveland? Sure but it's not like we hate him for it.

This series could be ugly with 6 guys fighting the flu. At least we have a built in excuse if we get rocked. :)

Hate Phillips? No way. I was rooting for the guy all spring training before, during and after the 'trade'. I did hate the Indians for trading Phillips...and it took us years to find a decent 2nd baseman till Kipnis came along. He did NOT need a change of scenery, (the official Tribe line)....he needed a hitting coach and a manager to leave him alone. Wedge and Shelton kept trying to change his swing, and after a year of failure, BP said "enough" and went back to hitting the way that made him a top prospect. That didn't sit well with the ego's of Wedge and Shelton who labelled him as non-compliant and uncoachable. He tore the cover off the ball all spring, and showed them up....so they traded the 'troublemaker' for a bag of baseballs. This wasn't the only timeWedge and Shelton tried to do this to another pull hitting top prospect, but he was too compliant for his own good. They ruined Andy Marte trying to cram a square peg into their round hole.

Kipnis > BP

Past season don't mean anything, especially since Kipnis is pretty much a 1st year player.... He came up during the 2nd half of last year and really provided a spark, but the wheels had already fallen off.

Kipnis has more homers, RBI's, the better BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS.... Kipnis also has 15 SB compared to Phillips' 2.

Kipnis is fielding .989 while BP is at .991

Let's not forget that Kipnis is basically learning 2nd on the fly as he was converted there. He's made some spectacular plays himself. Fielding edge would still go to Phillips.

As much as it pains me to say it, he misses Hafners protection/bat in the lineup right by him.

Yeah, pitching matchups are not real good for the Tribe in this series. Going to have to score a lot to win tonight.
