Fucking pissed I've not been able to watch any of the games because of work. That'll change this upcoming week though.
Just projected ahead. I have the next Group B days off work. Pumped. I have a few days off this week, and only a half day Monday. Hopefully I can catch the second game.

Just finally caught up on today's games. Shocked that Denmark won. The other 3 matches have had the results I expected, but I would have guessed something like 2-0 Netherlands in that one.

I think they have a decent chance to advance still though. I think 4 might be good to get out and I expect them to beat Portugal. The Portuguese back line won't be able to hold them. They need Portugal over Denmark and at least a draw with Germany on Wednesday though.

Excited for Spain-Italy. Curious to see if the champs have their form without Puyol and Villa, and Italy is somewhat of an enigma, but anytime Balotelli is on the pitch there is something waiting to happen.

At some point in this tourney I expect the Spain defense to get out of whack for a big mistake. Puyol was the leader of that unit, physically and vocally. He is a huge loss. That and Sergio Ramos in a CB position will be onteresting

Italy clearly with the upper hand. Not quite sure what Spain is trying to do, playing with 6 midfielders.

Watch how they are attacking. Its all very methodical through the central midfield, dribbling not shooting or serving.

Balotelli with his obligatory card.

Ramos played mainly CB for Real this past season. That being said, seeing him in the CB position for the national team is a bit out of sort.

Ive only been able to watch the last 15 minutes of this half. But Spain looks like they always look to me. Dominate the midfield and work for the tap in goal. Its gotten them Euro and WC back to back. Italy has only had the one volley from the top of the 18.

But, admittedly, I didnt see the first 30 minutes.

EDIT: Then that Motta shot. Great save from Iker.

NICE! Great move by taking out Ballotelli. He was going through the motions this game imo.

I love soccer so I'm by no means bashing the sport. But jesus christ you already got the call, why do players still roll around on the ground lke they were shot after the fact?

Because they aren't USA Americans.

It was spanish football but with no torres, villa (messi with barca) etc. to run onto anything or run at anyone. Maybe it was just me, but it looked a training session where you only get 20sq yards to work with. They figured it out a but though.

Brilliant game today though, best of the tournament imo.

Torres is the greatest player ever from 40-20 yards out then he seemingly always misses or pisses down his leg.
