I definitely do judge those that believe their fairy tales are fact and reality and try to restrict the rights of rational individuals with religious based laws and philosophy. If faith was kept in the bedroom and not in the courtroom, I would have no qualms against religion; although I would still think its fundamentally retarded.
I don't disagree with your last statement, all I'm stating is that just because you don't believe in it...doesn't make it false. And for you to jump on this thread (this isn't a courtroom) and affront people for believing in an afterlife is quite hypocritical of you.

I had a diving accident July 17,1999, broke my neck, c-5....I in FACT did have an out of body experience. I was paralized, face down in the water....but I was calm and relaxed, unafraid. I saw the things around my body, (friends, boats)....i saw myself floating there face down...yet it was all from a birds eye view. I never believed in this shit until I experienced it myself! A few seconds seemed like an eternity....but when I was pulled up out of the water, my peacefulness and "expereience" left....I was back in my body and starting to panic....still couldn't move from the shoulders down.

I'm willing to bet these "out of body" experiences are caused by chemicals in the brain that are released in states of panic, near-death, or a simple lack of oxygen to the brain.

I could also see them being just remnants of your brain "restarting" when you come out of a serious trauma. Kind of like when you wake up in the morning and recall pieces of a dream. The dream is pointless, but you still have it there.

I'll get in a horrific car accident on my way home and barely survive and I'll let everyone know.

This is my thought, as well. DMT is awesome.

I was in a car wreck in 1993. I felt like I was floating looking down on the accident. I could see everything going on and it was kinda weird but I was so at peace with everything. When I woke up fear and pain took over it was pretty scary at that moment. I cant say what happened was real or just an illusion but it was a calming feeling.

I'll leave this for sleeper.
In sleeper's case, not having an afterlife is probably a good thing.

I would make fun of people who believed, with 100% certainty, that dragons were real. I also make fun of people who are 100% certain that there's an invisible man in the sky who controls everything and everyone.

And yeah, the "near death experience" is likely caused by the release of DMT into the brain. I've done DMT on 3 occasions, and it's exactly like the near death experiences people commonly describe.

One time when I was singing, it was like I took the shape of a unicorn and was floating while I watched myself sing.

That story is about as believable as your gambling story.

I do believe in an afterlife.

I also believe that the "near-death" experiences, and the ethereal-seeming states that people experience when almost dying (if that counts) are the result of chemicals released in the brain.
