Dispatch article today started me thinking. I've been knocked out before and I remember being aware of floating in complete nothing/darkness. I would not say it was peaceful, but everything seemed to be in slow motion. When I woke up everything seemed very chaotic and stressful. I did not see any light, but I don't think I was dead either so I'm not sure what it meant, if anything.

Anyone else have any "near death" experiences?

I'm sure he has an opinion. I did not see any people or god. And it was not life changing for me.

I don't know what it is...but I don't think it's just light's out. Our energy is transferred into something when our bodies (the conductor) give out on us. That's my opinion.

I'd rather believe in an afterlife than believe that we are all doomed to an eternity of nothingness

These people are delusional. They are looking for anything to make their boring mundane lives have meaning by making up stories about how they've experienced the afterlife.

But don't let reality get in the way of telling yourself lies to make yourself feel good.

The same can be said about a skeptic of the afterlife. No one knows the answer, you have to respect all possibilities. There is absolutely zero way of knowing either way.

Yeah, this is absolutely true. I don't believe in any sort of afterlife but don't hold it against those that do. I've had a couple close calls but no idea if I was near death or not, the latest one was 11 or 12 years ago in an atv accident. I have no recollection of any sort of out of body experience.

Do you apply this philosophy to other areas of your life too? Like if I believe that the holocaust didn't happen, would you hold it against me?

God forbid I'd like to see some evidence outside of a fiction book before jumping to any conclusions. Progress never happens when the mentally weak are given cop outs like "You are free to believe in whatever you want".

Not that I'm surprised, but I wasn't really looking for "do you believe in god" responses. I was just curious to see if anyone else had any kind of near death experience.

Yes, because that's completely asinine. We've been through the Holocaust, we know it happened.

You're free to believe whatever you want, and if you're the type of person who has no faith in anything not published in a science report...that's fine too. But mocking those who believe in things just because you don't is ludicrous. The greatest scientist on the face of this planet can't tell you with certainty what happens when you die.

I don't believe in a God right now, at this point in my life. That doesn't mean I judge the people who do. It's their belief in one of life's greatest mysteries, and I respect that. There was a Bible before there was modern science.

I’ve experience death twice and both times I have experience the feeling of light and the non-verbal stimulation of commands of the Lord. Sad part he sent me back twice kind of funny in a way:).
Was the experience life changing yes and no? Not really sure what I experiences at the time but knew it was something difficult to explain and understand. Now I have to figure out my reason for being alive.

I have seen ghost, have had out of body experiences, fly in my dreams and at times have seen what will happen in the future is some situation, before that day on June 18[SUP]th[/SUP] I knew something was going to happen to me and I had packed up some of my gear to be shipped back home… I just did know the extent of what was to happen … Was I frighten no, there was a type of comfort and reinsuring that everything would be OK.

The greatest scientist in the world isn't peddling around made up stories to extract money and influence from the poor and mentally weak.

I definitely do judge those that believe their fairy tales are fact and reality and try to restrict the rights of rational individuals with religious based laws and philosophy. If faith was kept in the bedroom and not in the courtroom, I would have no qualms against religion; although I would still think its fundamentally retarded.
