Crazy low fence....but made this catch and guts priceless....6-10 fence and he robs the HR....but to sail 10 feet over the fence about 2 feet above it....hard not to watch 3 or so times.

Should be a homerun based on the rules of baseball. Catching the ball outside of the field of play is a homerun. That's why it's not a great catch and will never make ESPN.

That was my question. Hard to tell from the camera angle, but looks like he catches it with his body nearly completely over the fence. I thought it should have been a homerun.

For those saying it should have been a home run, you are most certainly incorrect.

It would only be a home run IF any part of his body was touching the ground over the fence when he caught the ball.

Since he caught it in mid air, and his feet were last in play, it is an out as long as he maintains control when he hits the ground.

The only rule that comes into play is that if there are less than 2 outs and there are runners on base, they get awarded a base just as if the ball was thrown out of play.

It was definitely an athletic catch, but why the hell were the home run fences so low?!?!
