I will wake up early on this day, walk outside in the crisp morning dew and be thankful, remembering those of my family and those of whom I have served with, honoring them for who I am and what they have done. Those guys, those youthful boys some just over the age of 19 who where shaped into manhood under harsh times, never wavering under the pressure but ready at the call of duty. I will never forget ..</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

This Memorial Day weekend I have planned to do some smoking (Smoked Ribs) on the Smoker.. and having family over </SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

Few days before Memorial Day my grandson age 5 will start the 10-12 operation process of correcting a birth defect Bilateral Microlia (no ears).</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>
Our family has lots to be thankful for on this Memorial Day.</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

What are your plans for this up coming Memorial Day weekend ????? </SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

What? Geez, hope to hear this turns out well.

As for Memorial weekend, will most likely have lots of auto racing on in the background.

You have a Nurburgring 24 hour race, F1 is racing in Monaco, thee Indy 500 and last is the NASCAR race for shits and giggles.

How do you know there is going to be morning dew?

I'll probably spend my Memorial Day working on the house. Trying to finish some repairs so we can get it on the market. Maybe grill out, but just with my wife and boys.

I drove by there on Friday night and Saturday night, and it looked kinda dead. There were cars parked up town, and they were all at Gangsta's, b/c that is one of the deadest towns I've ever seen.

Also parking in the back. The porch area is behind the restaurant. ;)

No doubt Degraff is a dead town compared to many choices. But it's better than heading to cop infested cities or the Indian Lake area.

First off: belly, et al... Thank you for your service. From a small family a little ways east of Columbus, we appreciate it.

mcburg93 (and anyone else up that way): Just outside the small (SMALL) town of Rushylvania is a grave marker for a one SGT. Jeremy M. Hodge, US Army. He was killed in Iraq on Oct. 10th, 2005. As the story I heard goes, he stepped up to volunteer for the lead humvee because he knew the others in his platoon were weary from the last few days. Being the lead humvee made it most vulnerable to an IED, which struck they struck that day. As it turns out, on of the individuals it could have been was one of my dear friends. I wear SGT. Hodge's name on my wrist everyday as a reminder that freedom isn't free.

In light of that, I attend (and participate in) a Memorial Day Observance put on by the church I attend. More info can be found here.

There is a pretty good chance I stop up to the Ohio Fallen Soldiers Memorial in Sunbury. Excellent little memorial for all to check out.

Living in Bellefontaine (10 minutes from Rushylvania) I know about Jeremy Hodge very well. I didn't know that story though. There is a truck I see once in a while around town all painted up as a tribute to him. It's really an emotional thing to see when it goes by.

Here's a nice read for you:

I'm sure. Curious, what time did ya drive by? It's not really a bar, but a restaurant with a side bar/lounge area.
Not sure of the schedule, some date coming up they will have bands playing. Hopefully that gets a few more people there later.

Thanks.

I liked this: &#8220;He was a Jarhead from birth; boot camp just gave him the stamp of approval,&#8221; Lt. Antrim said. &#8220;David was a warrior and that&#8217;s very rare in this world.&#8221;
