No.

You think whining should be infracted. All you are doing on this thread is whining. So maybe you should get another infraction...

I agree saying it for the sake of saying it is the trolling you're trying to avoid, but I mean saying someone is being a Mr. Know It All is not something that would be unique to LJ
Fortunately I read this post before posting, because I was going to ask the same thing!

My question to you is: what is the implicative difference between the following responses: 1) that's so stupid; 2)thats the dumbest f*cking thing ive ever heard.

Obviously #2 is unnecessary, but that's not my point. Please explain the implicative difference.
One is unnecessary hyperbole, the other is not. One pisses off people more than the other. One uses an unnecessary swear word to further try and emphasize how dumb someone's idea is and make them feel worse.

If you think that's all I'm doing then you're not paying attention. I've also made a couple jokes

Just use common sense and have discussions without resorting to name calling and trying to piss everyone off. Make it more enjoyable for everyone so more people post...then we won't have the same 50 people posting all the time.
I agree, but also think it's not a big deal to bust somebody's balls here and there. Basically it seems the mods will base their judgment on the post whether the other poster gets his feelings hurt or not.
I Wear Pants;1169176 wrote:In what ways? I mean, the CC is a pedo, LJ knows/has done everything, etc, etc shit does get old and more often than not derails threads that could have held some good discussions.

Also, fuck this and all of you, I finished my sandwich so I'm going back to the beach. :)
I have honestly never seen a thread get derailed because somebody poked fun of LJ's narcism, or for CC being a pedophile. Joke is made, and the thread moves on. Threads get derailed, when you have people like skyhook and jordo coming in with their passive aggressive comments.

If you feel worse by me saying that's the "dumbest f*cking thing I've ever heard" rather than "the point you're making is really stupid" (which won't get penalized), then maybe you should stop using the internet.

Bottom line. I'm getting too old to put up with all of the shit that the site had devolved in to. Most of the rules have been in place since day 1, we just didn't enforce them. There is nothing groundbreaking or outrageous in the rules. I apologize if my attempt to make this place more inviting to new members is such an inconvenience to you. We have the basement for people that like to be assholes. I can envision it becoming a more trafficked forum, taking over some of the traffic that serious business got. I don't understand why people are having such a hard time with this. I mean, I blame myself for letting the place get so bad that people are complaining about the "new" rules enforcement. Still, we're all adults, right?

I'm not thin skinned. Nothing that anyone does on this site offends me. But the immature and annoying stuff ruins perfectly good banter on this site, and half the time I don't feel like sifting through the shit to get to the actual good posts and so I don't even bother coming on this site for weeks at a time.

I've never understood what is so wrong with wanting to be able to utilize the internet for meaningful debate. But I guess that's because I'm just so damn thin skinned.

Dude we were joking, relax. That's the exact point like_that and I are trying to make, you guys need to relax around here.

Policing and actively looking to police are two different things, IMO.

To be honest, I don't think either of them add to any discussion. Do you?

Yes, normally adults can handle people busting each other's chops.
