An early key series for the tribe as they look to extend their lead in the Al East. The pitching match up pair a couple of rookie lefties. Chris Sale, 2-1, 3.21 hurls for the Pale Hose with young phenom, Drew Pomeranz. toeing the rubber for the tribe. After a shaky first start, Pomeranz has lived up to his billing as a future All Star allowing 3 earned runs in 9 innings, striking out 10 in the process.
Choo will be back in the lineup and Johnny Damon should make his debut.
Go tribe.

BRF was ready in the bull pen to start this thread if Footwedge or grodt were not able.
But "The Man" Footwedge stepped up and got it started with a very ironic intro.
Here is the intro that BRF was going to use:
It’s Jimenez vs. Sale...............hold on to your hats if Footwedge and his adversaries go at it.
I don’t know who pitches in the next games and don’t really give a shit.
However, I should stow my negativity to say that I am actually really surprised at how well the Tribe is doing so far this year.

Chris Sale pitched really well the first time around this year. Young phenom Drew Pomeranz is going to have to bring his best stuff.
The Indians are only hitting .230 on the season against lefties.

After one month...Tribe league leaders
Triples.... Kipnis tied for 1st with 2
Victories...Lowe in second at 4-1 behind four pitchers at 4-0
Saves...Perez tied for 1st with 7
The Tribe currently ranks middle of the pack in the American League in Hitting and Pitching.
Thanks Wedge...for getting the thread started.

Not to downplay the first month, but the tribe benefitted from a really easy schedule so far. Contrast that to Detroit, who has played New York and Texas already.
Detroit is the long term team to beat...and they've had their number 2 starter on the shelf for the first month.
I think it is time to give LaPorta another look. Way back when, both Joey Belle and Jim Thome were horrible their first 100 plate appearances or so.
12 games without a home run is really bad.

Remember what a skinny little shit Thome was when he came up? Check his minor league record for power hitting in case you young pups don't believe it. Why don't they do the same thing with Lonnie C.? Oh, that's right ......steroids are illegal.Footwedge;1159077 wrote: Way back when, both Joey Belle and Jim Thome were horrible their first 100 plate appearances.

and Laporta has had 900 plate appearances in an Indians uniform.....batting .238 with 30HRs. whats funny is he has around 900 ABs in the minors and his numbers are twice as good. Like that article said, career AAA player.

Looks like the rain is about through Chicago. At least the first bit, which will give enough of a window to play.

And in case you missed it, Kyle Drabek shut down Texas last night for 6 innings. Gave up 2 runs, struck out 8. But they lost.
Guy we shouldve had for Cliff Lee, instead of Carrasco.

Why don't we just bean Konerko and Pierzenski every time they're up to bat?

Pierzenski makes a living off Tribe pitching. Dude is hot garbage but he just rakes vs us. At least Konerko hits everybody...for the most part.

Defense failed, and Ubaldo isnt good enough to make up for that. What an awful inning. But he is getting drilled regardless, and Tribe is getting blown out.

Ubaldo is shaky, PERIOD. Walks walks walks. Sure his defense let him down...and they are running wild on Marson.

Defense sure blew tonight, although the smoke from the fireworks played a small role. Still no excuse for some of the plays. And it's becoming harder and harder to have faith in Ubaldo turning it around. I know most will snicker but since I generally prefer to root for Indians players to do well, I've really been pulling for Ubaldo to be the pitcher we traded for. However, I feel that something drastic is going to have to happen. I'll still root for him every time he toes the rubber but I'll no longer be able to reply to his detractors because right now, they're right.
Still pulling for a series win.

Ubaldo now the proud pwner of the worst WHIP on the staff. I fell asleep in the second inning....happy I did.HitsRus;1159249 wrote:Ubaldo is shaky, PERIOD. Walks walks walks. Sure his defense let him down...and they are running wild on Marson.

well it doesn't help when Acta fucks with the lineup either.

I don't think any of us here wants him to do bad just to 'prove they're right'. For myself I had reservations about the trade unless he was the guy to lead us to a playoff spot. Certainly what we've seen from Ubaldo does not justify that trade in any shape , way, or form. There are no more excuses left. He's not new../.and he's had the whole off season to let his 'sore shoulder" or whatever injury he had early last year to heal. He looked like shit in spring training, and you can no longer use that as an excuse. When I saw him pitch the other night, his fast ball was running 87-89, and he's all over the place.

he's lost the velocity that made him able to pitch his way out of jams. now when he's unable to find the plate early in the count, it just results in low 90s, down-the-middle cookies getting hit very hardgrodt;1159276 wrote:Defense sure blew tonight, although the smoke from the fireworks played a small role.
