Dusty took Bruce out because Dusty can't stand to have a poor bunter up in late inning situations. Cost him yesterday when Bruce was up with two on and no out and he couldn't bunt in a bunting situation and Bruce ended up making an unproductive out when a productive out was needed in the worst way! Simon just got bilked by the umpire of called strike 3 on a full count that would have ended the inning!

You're an idiot of you think Bruce should be bunting. Sorry. And regardless that's no reason to take him out in the 10 inning a day later.

I'm not an idiot, just trying to postulate what idiosyncrasy Dusty's mind came up with to justify that move!

Yes, "stellar" pinch hitting appearance! At least our middle infield defense is better now!

Bronson - star of the game. Rest of the team - pathetic! Except for Votto, who can't do it all, and Wash not letting him beat them with 3 walks. Still 1/2 with them pitching around him!

Beginning of the end - lead-off walk to the fastest guy on the team!

Dusty is always more worried about tomorrow then today with the bullpen.

Hanigan with a great throw to 2B, but Simon just too slow to the plate for him to have a chance to throw him out!

Great play by Cozart to pick off the runner, but a badly botched rundown play by the Reds to let the batter get not one more, but two more bases than he should have gotten with a properly executed run down play. How far removed are they from spring training when they allegedly sharpen up on those type plays?

Agreed. Rolen should have tagged him out.

Simon gets out of the jam though.

Can someone explain what happened here? Did Dusty really use his 2nd best hitter to bunt when he had Harris up there already?
- R. Ludwick doubled to left
- Z. Cozart hit for W. Harris
- Z. Cozart popped bunt out to catcher

So now Marshall has to go at least 2 innings, if things work perfectly, for the Reds to win! Unless Dusty uses pitchers who are "unavailable". That's what you get when you:

1) knock a deep fly ball over the fence for a tie game
2) don't use "stretched out" Chapman for more than 9 pitches
3) have an offensive abortion not being able to score after a lead-off double

Do you think Dusty is hoping they lose it in Marshall's first inning so they don't have to use any more pitching that will mess them up even more for the future?

It will fly under the radar but yet again, Dusty's management of the pitching staff loses.

Oh, and the hitting also lost it.

Must-win game, 5 outs to go...Chapman + Marshall = win.

The rest they say...is history.
