My wife and I talked about having kids, she went off her pills, said it would be 3 months....that was in December. Now she is 3 weeks late, and took 4 different tests. All came up positive.....I couldn't be happier...but I'm also kinda lost, whats a dude do in this situation.....it is my wife moving to Mexico is NOT an option!

Having kids isn't something you can prepare for. Just enjoy the ride and it will all work out.

Congrats! Just enjoy it. A lot of people are so concerned about doing everything picture perfect and make it 100x harder than it actually is and miss all the great parts!

There are instruction book, some direction on how to and training classes... only suggested guideline however. You can read, study, go to classes the bottom line is simple you will feel like a failure sometimes, be a hero other times, do something right, other things wrong, have disappointment and joy, be proud and get disappointed. This creation will divide you and your wife at times but can also bring you both closer if you work at being the best parents. Remember from this point forward it is no longer about you, you are secondary to everything else. </SPAN>

Remember this is a gift from God to you and your wife, this is one aspect your legacy design and develop it with care. Everything you do will be duplicated is some form by this baby.

This is not easy but very rewarding in the long run...

Awesome, congrats.

We have a 19 month old daughter and another due in August -- it has been the best 19 months of my life.

As far as free time/sleep --- yes, sleeping in is basically 7:30-8:00am now (rarely) and if I want to catch a movie or play video games or something, it happens basically between 10 - midnight, but it's totally worth it.

Also, everyone says "it goes so fast", and you're like, "whatevs". But, when you have a kid you realize time really does fast forward it seems.

Make it get good grades and teach it as much as you can about personal finance. We don't need another bleeding heart liberal in this country.

I think I do a pretty good job of following the rules. Most of my personal attacks are placed in the basement, which is where they are allowed.

Thank you everyone for the congrats and advice. It was still sinking in at the time of the post. I may hibernate for the next 8 months like a bear so I can at least FEEL I have had some sleep this year.
