There are arguments for both. I'm not hating on sully, just think Zeller was better, particularly in conference season.

Could be said it make it more easy to shine on offense because those guys get so much attention. Difficult to double on Zeller. Sullinger saw double almost every game.

Zeller does not have the skills Sully does. He generally plays harder, is a far better defender and better offensive rebounder, but he's also a legit 6'10. Sullinger is 6'7 (6'8 if you want to be nice).

Much easier for zeller. Sully saw double teams in almost every single game. And teams helped down low on him a ton too because osu shot so poorly from the outside most games.

Measured at 6'10" at Lebron Camp last summer with shoes on. They have no reason to lie like a media guide would. No idea where you get this 6'7". Have stood next to him and he is a legit 6'8"/9", no question.
Agree about Sullinger being more skilled. And although people rip on his athleticism, he is a much better athlete than Zeller. Zeller is not the most fluid player. But still damn good, no question.

Tyler Zeller was also the recipient of a lot of doubling down over the course of the season, as opposing defenses could afford to leave UNC's perimeter players who were consistently inefficient from the outside. Roy does a lot of things really well, but recruiting proficient three-point shooters to compliment his amazing interior talent is not one of them.

Zeller did have John Henson to take away some of the pressure inside, but Zeller worked for the offensive opportunities he got. He also possessed an excellent 18-foot touch that really displayed his versatile skill set, and could run the floor and score in transition better than any big man in America. He's a very smooth player.

I find North Carolina intolerable, but a case for Zeller over Sullinger (also a great player) for first team could easily be made. I would have loved the kid at Duke.

Not likely. Duke lost predominately because it failed to utilize its advantage in size. With the lack of emphasis Duke's guards placed on getting the ball inside in that game, Zeller would have been as useless as a ladder.

BTW, Sullinger is first repeat All American from frosh to soph since Chris Jackson (LSU) in 1989. Sullinger is also the ONLY player to be named preseason all american, and make the all american team. Other preseason players were Barnes(UNC), Jones(UK), Lamb(UConn) and Taylor(Wisky).

Actually, I don't think it has much to do with Duke offense as it did their defense. This was one of the worst defenses K has had at Duke in recent memory.

The centers in the acc were soft this year. Zellar is the type of guy hansbourgh would have killed by just being tougher

I agree. I'm just playing devils advocate on he arguments part.

I simply think Zeller just had a better year. the biggest difference for
Zeller though is his defense and ability to run the floor is better than Sullinger. I actually think Cody and Tyler are the 2 best in the country at it. Sully is better offensively, based on talent.

Karen where in my post did I say anything about the BIG centers. I'm just saying Zeller isn't really that good when compared to past centers in the ACC. I am actually a fan of NC basketball and went to the final four when they won it. I am just saying IMO Zellar is a guy someone like Hansbourgh would have ran thru during his playing days. Duke and NC this year had centers who were soft and more finesse players then in years past.

I will say though that you can't accuse many centers in the BIG of being soft. They might be less skilled but most of them are big physical guys who will put a body on you.

Oh and by the way by tough I mean physical big body guys.

These lists are almost 100% made up by numbers.

Which is why Dougie is there. It's not based on what you do for your team.

Which is why Sully and Zeller could be swapped and it wouldn't be an issue.
