those are leading universities in their states in funding, enrollment and reputation. And we could keep the list going with Duke, Vanderbilt and just about any other major university in the South including Texas.

**** this "white people are the victims" ****. I assume you're a white male, which is the genetic equivalent of hitting the ****ing jackpot. Take your winnings and shut the **** up about it. You'll NEVER know what its like to be at a disadvantage every single place you go, so don't ****ing act like its unfair to try to level the playing field.

Then tell me why there is a Black Caucus in congress...many Black academic clubs at opublic colleges all over the United States, etc etc etc. If I tried to start a 'White Accounting Club' while I was in school, the first ophone call I would have received would have been from the ACLU, followed by Jesse Jackson.

Please tell me how the acceptance of this in our society today is not racist?

Agreed. Virginia is a decent school, for a backup. The rest I wouldn't go even if they paid me.

Georgia Tech is one of the top engineering schools in the country. Also affirmative action needs to go away just like labor unions they served a purpose initially. Now they do more harm than good just like the NAACP, Urban League, etc.

Every school is "one of the top" in the country. Even the worst school on the planet is "one of the top".

The negro baseball leagues last season was 1951. While I agree that racism still exists (as I have pointed out several times ont his thread), don't you think you should stop citing references from 61 years ago?

well i have no idea what the black caucus group is so ill leave that alone,

but groups like black academic clubs etc, provide support and encouragement in my experience for issues that may come up specifically to being black. and there are issues that are specific to black people many times. my bro is a member of a black lawyer association and i beleive their mission is to increase membership of black lawyers in the profession and provide support and mentorship that they likely did not recieve for said issues. they have white members as well. i also highly doubt black academic clubs or groups that you mentioned bar people of other races who also want to help

What are the benefits for increasing black lawyers? Why do these groups still segregate by skin color?

i wasnt the one who had the problem w any groups white or black...i simply responded to the question of why these groups exist. i wasnt trying to show support or non support but rather an explanation if he really didnt know why these groups were around. i wouldnt mind seeing them go. but i dont think that time has come yet either if people still want or use them. i just read an article today about the uproar when people found out a couple of the charachters in the hunger games were black...it shows me that some people still are not ready to accept blacks as equals or to not see color. it does work both ways tho.
