I didn't change any of the scoring from the default Yahoo settings, they should be on their somewhere.

And yeah if we get more than 20 I'd say we'll pay new than 1. That can be discussed on here once we get that far.

I sent you the direct link to the pool, try clicking that and then entering the password.

Since scoring was already brought up, the Yahoo default is for the points to start out at 1 point per correct pick and then each following round doubles. The championship game would be worth 32 points. I can add a seed difference multiplier to that to put emphasis on picking upsets instead of straight chalk.

The other scoring options they have:
progressive scoring, where the first round is worth 1, 2nd is worth 2, 3rd is worth 3 up until the championship game worth 6.
straight scoring, each correct pick for the entire tourney is 1 point.

both of those options can have bonus points added for upsets.


Anyone that has an opinion can voice that here and if there is enough of a consensus, I'll change it. I'd like to have the scoring settled by Tuesday evening at the latest so everyone still has an opportunity to change their picks by Thursday if need be.

Not a fan of where points double, basically the first couple rounds don't matter much.

It's a little late to add the bonus points for upsets, some people who filled out their brackets already would probably like to change them. I'd rather not have to redo mine either.

With Fab Melo's situation, I assume most people will be redoing their brackets somewhat. Besides, how long does it take to fill them out? 3 minutes?

anyone else have an opinion on scoring? I do agree with dave that have the title game worth that much kind of overshadows the earlier rounds.

I think the point is to have the title game outweigh the earlier rounds. It's a lot harder to pick the national champ than to pick a team to advance to round 2. Dumb to have round 1 worth 32 points (1 x 32) and round 6 worth 6 (6 x 1).

It's not like you get to remake your picks every round and then they double. You have to pick round 6 before round 1 is played, so it should be worth a lot more.
