Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict was laid back and very "Yes sir, no sir," although he wasn't exactly apologetic about his penchant for penalties on the field and issues with the Sun Devils coaching staff off it.

"I'm a soft-spoken guy, shy," he said. "But when I'm on the field I hate to lose and that aggression comes out."

Burfict's ASU's career was marred by a slew of personal foul penalties that hurt his draft stock. He also had an altercation in the locker room with a teammate - he said it began with an argument in a 7-on-7 drill - and he left school a year early after a very strained relationship with former ASU coach Dennis Erickson's staff.

Burfict is the No. 3-ranked inside linebacker by NFLDraftScout.com and the No. 88 prospect overall. He'll need to convince scouts that he is an impact player who can control his aggression to avoid slipping into the third or fourth round.

"I just know I'm the best linebacker in this draft," said Burfict, who added that he patterns his game after the Ravens' Ray Lewis and the Bills' Nick Barnett.

Burfict said he is down to 248 pounds after playing last season at 260, but he wasn't about to absolve the coaching staff for its role in his disappointing 2011 season.

"The coaches kind of messed me up. I didn’t know if I would start a game or be benched," he said. "It hurt me, but I tried to fight through it."

It baffles me how much importance people tend to put on the combine, especially the athletic portion. How surprising is it that RGIII ran a sub 4.4 40? The kid was a track phenom in high school. Game tape is the only way to truly evaluate these guys.

Right now, all of this talk is speculative. Unless the Skins want to close a deal with the Rams PRIOR to free agency they are essentially bidding against themselves. When FA is over, the QB's have settled in with their new teams, and we see who has open QB slots, THAT'S when speculating should commence.

If there is a marked improvement next year it's because of the 4/5 picks they're going to get for RGIII, not necessarily because of Bradford.

Like I said, Bradford is an established starting QB and I wouldn't give up 4/5 picks for him, let alone give up 4/5 for an unproven commodity.

If you'd like I'll edit my post to say he was injured for nearly half the season? He played hurt a few of those 10 games. A high ankle sprain is probably the slowest injury to heal.

I'll add Kyle Boller and Keith Null were the starters for the other games. I believe Bradford is an improvement over any of the three starters from 2009.

Yeah, that's where the disagreement is here. I actually like him a lot. He's got a terrific head on his shoulders and is an elite athlete. However, I'm legitimately wary of the pathetic Big 12 defenses.

When I watched Bradford struggle against a defense with NFL players in Florida in 2009 after TEARING UP the Big 12, I started to have my doubts, but was still pretty certain he'd be a very good NFL quarterback. Now after watching him and Freeman regress and Gabbert looking to be completely awful, I have my doubts about that conference preparing it's quarterbacks for the NFL. For me, that's why RGIII is an uncertain commodity to me, and why I'm not shocked Cam Newton had great success after succeeding in an extremely tough defensive conference.

Not to change the subject from the Draft but I'm probably the only OC'er that still likes Gabbert. His team sucked around him last year. New coach and rebuild. Give him a few years. I think he's going to be a starting QB in the NFL for a while.

From that list I'm convinced Daniel is the best. If he gets a chance you'll all agree. Trapped behind Brees has been good for him. I look for him to Matt Flynn it here in a year or so.

I would like to know more about Tannehill. I know early into the season I sort of worte him off as a Gabbert clone, and never really continued to follow him through the season. Anyone have an opinion on him? I think if the Rams really want to get cute with trade talks and Tannehill is a viable option, the Browns could easily have him at #4. Than get a guy like Nick Perry at #22 and get a stud WR out Wright, Quick, or Hill from Ga Tech in the 2nd. I think that would go a long way to fixing this team. Then in the 3rd we could get a nice RB since Hillis/Hardesty/Brand Jackson is pretty much a joke at the position and hard to count on. I personally really like LeMichael James and think he'd be an awesome pick in the 3rd round. Real explosive playmaker who would be nice to compliment Hillis, 3rd down back and when Hillis starts QQing or gets injured (as he often does) he can step in and pwn. Then we can tell Hillis to go QQ somewhere else and get anothe rRB in next years draft.

As of right now I think that would be an awesome scenario.

On Peter King's Monday Morning QB column he quoted a GM he talked to as saying that part of the reason the Griffin price tag is getting so high is because of the new rookie cap.

Matt Flynn will possibly get more guaranteed money on the open market than RGIII, and if you are a GM you obviously would rather pay RGIII whose upside is light years ahead of Flynn. Granted Flynn doesn't cost draft picks, but in that context of the money it explains why teams are willing to give so much up to get him possibly.

In the old days where it it would have been $50 million plus picks it wouldn't have happened, but with the reasonable rookie rates now it is not as daunting financially to make the move if you miss. You loss picks, but it doesn't screw up your cap situation for a while the way the old system used to.
